Resident ā€¢ 2004 - 2007

3/2/2007

I lived at Ashley club for a fairly long time. When Hurricane Ivan hit, management decided to rip out the walls and ceiling in my bedroom and bathroom. It was seven months before they replaced them. The delay was understandable given the shortage of building materials, what was not understandable was their reluctance to charge a pro-rated rent. Moreover, the workers splilled paint, plaster, etc. on the carpet when completing repairs. Despite management's promise to clean the carpet, they never did. Nor did they complete any of the other repairs they promised- like replacing the covers on outlets, etc. that were removed during construction. When I finally moved out and deployed to Iraq, management took that opportunity to claim I owed them 300 in damages for cleaning costs. Since I was deployed, I was just going to pay them rather than deal with the headache. My girlfriend was a little angrier than I was and lodged an objection on my behalf. They reduced the amount they claimed I owed. I just told her to pay it and get them out of our lives. She was pretty pisssed because they claimed I had left the place in some sort of squalid state. She had been there cleaning it with me so she recognized it for what it was- management trying to make a fast buck off of someone leaving the area. In the end it will cost them far more because I tell other military members about my experience there. Likewise, I hope this info helps anyone moving to the Pensacola area.
