Resident ā€¢ 2010 - 2011

9/6/2011

I lived in Countrywood for about a year while going through flight training at NAS Pensacola. I cannot say enough good things about our experience while living here! I wish we could have lived there longer but I got transferred to a new city. I highly recommend this complex to anyone moving to Pensacola, especially if you're military. I'll try to give some information in different categories: - Appearance/Parking/Safety/Noise: Countrywood is a beautiful apartment complex. The complex as a whole is well-maintained and attractive. Every resident gets one covered parking spot, and there are plenty of extra uncovered spots for any other cars you may have. I never felt unsafe living in Country Wood, even though it is not gated. It's tucked into a little nook off Blue Angel Parkway and surrounded by woods, houses, and one other apartment complex across the street. I should probably say that I grew up in a city and am a fairly paranoid person, so if I felt comfortable and safe at night that is saying something! We never had any problems with noise, either from traffic or other residents. The ONLY noise that may present an issue to some tenants is that you will sometimes hear jets flying overhead, especially when the Blue Angels are practicing. It never bothered us, but it's something you may want to know ahead of time. Also, the apartment complex has a no pet and no smoking policy. - Location: Having worked on NAS Pensacola, the location of Country Wood was a dream commute. If you are an aviation student, it's about a 15 minute drive to API/Schools Command, and then if you continue on in the NFO program you will have an 8 minute commute every day. There are a gas station, a Walmart, a Target, Waffle House and a small strip with a few other stores about half a mile away. The beaches at Perdido Key (and a beautiful new Publix supermarket) are about a 15 minute drive, downtown 25 minutes, mall and big movie theater 30 minutes. - Units: We had a 3rd floor 2 bedroom unit with a sunroom and were spoiled with the amount of space. Both bedrooms were spacious, and we loved that both the master and guest baths had garden tubs. The walls are painted a soft yellow instead of stark painter's white, and crown molding and columns added character to the interior of the home. All kitchen appliances are provided, as well as an amazing full washer and dryer. The apartment was absolutely spotless when we moved in, with all appliances in excellent condition. Another good thing is that internet and 70 channel cable are included in the rent! - Staff/Maintenance: I cannot say enough good things about the staff at CountryWood. Sheri, the property manager, is very friendly and approachable. I have read other people's reviews on this site complaining about having a hard time getting their security deposit back from her and I have to say it is all nonsense. When you give your notice to vacate you are given a checklist to fill out that details the condition the apartment should be left in. You can do what we did, and put the simple effort in to clean your apartment and leave it in the condition you received it, and you will get your deposit back! OR you can choose to have maintenance staff take care of the cleanup for you, for a VERY reasonable fee taken out of your deposit. It is all spelled out very clearly for you, and the requirements are NOT unreasonable or difficult to fulfill. Also, if you are military you will have no problem at all getting out of your lease via military clause. Sheri is very understanding and just asks you to keep her updated when you find out about changes in orders. The maintenance staff, namely Scott, is also amazing. Any maintenance requests can be made by phone or in person, and any issues we had were resolved within 24 hours. The staff changes the air filters in the air conditioners frequently, and pest services are provided once a month. (We only ever saw 2 or 3 bugs in our apartment throughout the entire year we lived there) I was sad to move away from Country Wood, and living there set the bar very high for our recent apartment search in our new city. We had a wonderful experience, and I hope my review helps other people share in that! Best of luck to Pensacola-bound renters!
