Resident 2015 - 2016

3/13/2016

Live here and feel like you're on a permanent vacation . . . at a third world country. First of all, let me say I am not one of those that puts 1 star for everything because I am trying to prove a point. I have legitimate reasons for the poor ratings and, unlike this complex, I back up my claims with the attached photos. Here are the reasons why I would never recommend anyone live here: Parking When I first moved in, I talked to the staff about having my work truck on the property. They said that's fine but I would need to get an overnight pass. I explained that I would need to get one about once a week, if not more. They said it's no problem and that I could get a pass as many times as I needed. Likewise, I asked about having guests over. They said I could get an overnight pass every single day if I needed to. This went fine for a few months. Suddenly I saw a change in the staff (I'm assuming there was a change in management). I was told I had gotten guest passes to many times and that I needed to stop. They also told me I could no longer park my work truck there. I asked what changed and they said that parking had become an issue. First of all, I leave my personal vehicle at the office when I have the work truck so it doesn't use extra parking. Besides, there is plenty of parking. (See photo taken one late Thursday afternoon). As a result, I had to have all guests leave before midnight for fear of being towed and I had to leave for work 1 - 2 hours early in order to travel to the office to get my work vehicle. Security Let me be clear that this is NOT a review of the security company hired by Grande Oasis. They were nothing but courteous and helpful in every way. My complaint is the gates of the supposed "gated community". The front gate was up for almost the entire year that I was there. There is also a gate at the front exit of the property which really was open the entire time i was there. Then there is a side gate. I guess you could say this one was extra secure - it was broken at least half the time (see photo). Maintenance Any work orders I put in were taken care of pretty well. It's the grounds I'm talking about. In addition to the gate issue, the water was turned off at least once every couple of weeks for a good 6 month stretch. Sometimes there would be a warning but other times I would just come home to no water. When I called I would be told they were working on it and they didn't know when it would be back on. The worst was when they decided to redo the breezeways. They said they would be "painting" which I (and many others) figured meant they would be painting the walls. It turns out it meant they would be grinding down the concrete floors and stairs. This created an enormous amount of dust and sharp corners on the stairs. My doormat was thrown to the side but not protected and is now completely trashed. After all of this, they never did anything else. This mess was created about 3 months before I moved out and was still there when I left (see photos). Moving out This was a real testament to the shady works of this place. I turned in everything at the end but didn't realize I needed to turn in the decal from my car. So I asked if I could get a copy of the paperwork and bring it later. They absolutely refused saying I could get it when I came back. I also asked to do the walkthrough. They said maintenance was busy and it wouldn't happen that day and, again, it would be done when I get back. I came back that weekend with the decal and asked to complete the paperwork. Suddenly the paperwork was locked in some special office that no one had access to. Also, the head of maintenance that does the walkthroughs was magically missing that day. I asked to get a call so I could be present for it. Fast forward a few weeks of not hearing anything. I sent emails requesting the paperwork as I was really starting not to trust this company and wanted it on paper. After a lot of back and forth, I was told that my paperwork was not there, but rather at the Art Institute??? I can't even begin to imagine what that meant. After calling upper management a couple times, I finally get the paperwork I requested. I asked again about the walkthrough and was basically told there was no way they could schedule it so I could be there. I asked how I could make sure that any claims were legitimate and was told that ALL damages claimed would be photo documented. I really wish this part would have been in an email. Low and behold, I get the certified letter in the mail with a bill for complete replacement of the carpet. And guess what . . . no photos! In summary, the courteous staff will definitely sell you on the place at first. But please take a very close look at your surroundings, read the reviews and talk to residents before making the decision to stay at a place like this.
