Everything went to hell after Rent Athens took over. Apartment was way over priced for its size. Doesn't even have central AC but uses a wall unit like a cheap motel. They attempted to put in "central AC" by drilling holes in the ceiling and putting in a thermostat. The thermostat never worked and was turned off for most of my time there. Power bill was absurd for a place of that size due to the AC unit always running. The furniture rent was $50 a month and the couches peeled and were very uncomfortable. The bed was very hard. I recommend not paying for furnished here and get your own. The water was usually hot so I will compliment them there. Spectrum had fast internet available (300mbps) in this area but it went out far too often. Utilities are reasonable. $15 a month for water and trash. Parking was a nightmare at some buildings. There was no enforcement on parking so the place ended up looking like a trailer park. People would block you in and they never patrolled so no one was ever fined or towed. Walls are paper thin. Neighbor would cough constantly and I could hear every one. Heard them talking. Every word. Had to tell both neighbors to turn their TVs down on multiple occasions. Constantly weed smell filtering into your apartment. This place is a slum. Homeless shelter across the street so hobos always wondering around the complex. Most egregious was move out. I was charged hundreds of dollars for what I believe was normal wear and tear. Heard similar stories from other tenants and former tenants. You can do much better. Everyone I knew there was leaving. They did construction on new buildings for almost a year from morning to night shortly after I renewed my lease. I never got any sleep here. They will keep cycling out students but just know you can do better in Athens, especially for over $700 a month!
