Resident 2005 Recommended
Reviewed 09/14/2005
I moved to the Arboretum in February 2005. I live in a building toward the front of the property (facing Roswell Rd.). And there is little noise coming from other apartments. Most of the noise Ive heard has come from parking lots, and from the street traffic. My apartment has a wonderful layout and plenty of room for the rent I pay. But yes, I have observed some of the same things listed in some of these previous reviews. Yes, there are some questionable tenants living on the property. Yes, some of the apartments do have bug infestation problems. Yes, there have been some security issues, and so on and so forth. However, there is good news: First and foremost, this property is no longer called The Arboretum. It is now called The Renaissance at Andalusia (weird name if you ask me). The entire managerial staff is new. And there have been several positive changes since July 2005, when the management switched. There is now a security STAFF on the property. I have personally observed them handling and/or preventing potentially shady activities on the property. As of last week, some of the riff-raff I once noticed has become non-existent! Also, management has employed the Orkin people to come out and treat the buildings. Since becoming The Renaissance, this is the first time that Ive ever seen ANY pest control personnel. I have also noticed fewer little critters since their arrival. I know that its tough to annihilate bugs completely from properties such as these. But this is a good start. The maintenance staff has improved the grounds and the trash issues. They have even placed pet waste deposit receptacles all throughout the property. And overall, it seems that the management staff is taking more of an interest in the residents as a whole. So, for any of you reading these reviews, please note that during and prior to July 2005, some of the issues noted were valid. The bottom line is, for those of you looking for a cushy apartment complex (with amenities comparable to a Post development), you will be out of luck with The Renaissance. Conditions have improved. But I anticipate that more visible improvement will take time. There is no such thing as NO noise, and NO crime, no matter what kind of neighborhood you live in. So, if you are looking for a clean place to live, convenient to the sights, sounds, and smells of Buckhead, for a reasonable price---AND youre not afraid of residing in a diverse urban community (read: a community comprised of those who are non-white, like myself) then this might be a place you want to check out. Its definitely not perfect. But give it a chance
