I´ve lived in Collier Ridge Apartments for almost 4 years- yes the complex is a little older and the speed bumps are something to be reckoned with. Management did a major cleanup about 4 years ago and has yet to care for the upgrades. Paint is peeling from the buildings (mgmt. says they're going to take care of that) and the 1 year old gutter systems are falling off (mgmt. says they're not sure if they can take care of this). Rent has been lowered, and now a new element is moving in. I don't feel safe at night and am more cautious than I used to be.
Screens on windows are torn/missing; miniblinds shredded. The buildings are looking very shabby.

If you like a peaceful time at the pool, don't bother. The college coeds take over and drink themselves silly out of glass containers. A neighbor of mine has had a keg on his front porch for at least a year. Parties are becoming the norm, not the execption.

The manager used to live on site, and has moved out... guess this place wasn't nice enough for him anymore.

Water is turned off without notice, and rarely is a note given to renters as to why.

Maintenance is usually very quick to respond to problems, I´m a good renter and enjoy the quiet and pretty views of the woods.

Management is pretty good- there have been a few issues in the past, but they have always been able to resolve them.

I´ve read many reviews complaining about the parking situation- sometimes it is a problem. Especially when college students have their friends over for a party on the weekends (or to ´stay over´ for a month at a time). But generally, that problem is going away as other living options are opening closer to Tech and GA State campuses.

The rent is very reasonable, the views from my part of my building are very pretty and the size & floor plan make it feel like a house and a home.

For safety- I have never had a problem while living here. Not one car harmed or break in at my home. I do not fear going out of my apartment at night or living in the Collier/DeFoors area at all. I find it´s quite safe and comfortable. Actually, it´s all really improving. You´re close to 3 grocery stores and 10-15 minutes to ANYTHING (Buckhead, Target, malls, ect.). Traffic isn´t too bad - but is increasing. In the next year or so a Costco is going to be built near the Kroger on Howell Mill Rd. and some condos over in the same area, but it´s a long way off and the traffic shouldn´t interfere with the Defoors/Collier area.
