My fiance and just moved from Hawthorne Gates after almost 3 years of residence there. It's a quiet, relatively small community, tucked away near the North Springs MARTA station. We only left our apartment because of a new job out-of-state. The apartment complex has undergone a lot of work lately (repaving the asphalt, renovating the pool, tree removal, etc.) which are all nice to have. Management has definitely shown an interest in keeping the place in good condition. We never had any trouble with break-ins or suspicious people lurking about. Every now and then the breeze lights would go out (usually 4-7 days before bulbs were replaced), but it was more of a nuisance than any actual security concern. The place is about 8-9 minutes from Perimeter Mall and some of the other nearby shopping centers, with plenty of food and some shopping. Being right by the MARTA is convenient, although we didn't use it too much - mostly if we needed to go downtown or occasionally for the airport. The biggest inconvenience for me was not having a gas station on the direct path between the complex and GA-400 / US-19 (the route I took to work). There are nearby gas stations, though. Our maintenance requests were taken care within 24 hours (using the online request system) every time except for once. The one time that didn't happen we followed up in-person a few days afterward and they sent someone over within 30 minutes. There have been only a couple changes in management since we moved in. Everyone has been courteous and helpful to us. We've even gotten personal e-mails from management every now and then to let us know that a package had come in for us. Monique and Brittaney are the two running the show now and they are both great to work with. The only gripes I've ever had are the occasional short notices for construction or other maintenance (e.g., requiring certain parking spots to be vacated or pets to be put in crates). Most of the time, they are very good about giving plenty of forewarning, though. All-in-all, a great place for us and would certainly recommend it to others. We were sad to leave and hope our new apartment turns out to be just as good.
