Manager and Staff Practise Racial and Social Status Discrimination
I am an ----- refugee. I cannot speak English well. I have been at Lakes At Indian Creek for almost a year (would be one year on August 29, 2011). The air-conditioner is not good; water leaks and I have to put two water pails to contain the water; water leaks in my bedroom and the floor is soaked; there are lots and lots of mosquitoes because of the water in the bedroom; we have to sleep in the living room. I have a two-year-old son and a four-month-old daughter. The condition of the room is very harmful to my children. The toilet has no seat; and the water tap at the kitchen sink does not work. In spite of repeated requests for repair, nothing has been done so far. I want to move to a healthier apartment. But they do not want me to move to another apartment home. When (on August 15) I went to the office with a friend who speaks English, I was promised Apt. ---, and I was made to make a deposit of $250.00. When (August 22) I went to the office to sign papers for Apt. ---, I was told that the room has been given to another person. It is dishonest, unjust and corrupt of the manager and staff to do these things to me. So I went to the office of another apartment home on August 22. The staff there helped me. I submitted the application right away, and I can have the key on August 26. I am happy that I will be able to move away from the unjust manager of the Lakes.Share This Review
