Resident 2014 - 2017

9/3/2017

Don't move here. I can walk to a lot of places, so it's not the worst place I've ever lived, but I've been here long enough to experience the decline in quality between management companies. One of the first things the new company did was to take away the drop box for rent, explaining it was just not safe/secure. This is a bogus claim, as several area businesses still have a similar set up. The company's preference is for you to pay online, but there's a charge if you don't allow an automatic draft from your account, which I do not do. I asked the office for my rent total one month (trash/water monthly is paid with rent, and it is different each month), and the total was several thousand dollars because information had not been keyed correctly. That was both definitely wrong, and definitely what they would have hit my account for had I been on auto pay. The new management company installed a concierge package service so you can get your packages any time. Beware, this service will also cost you. Current residents who signed up by a certain date didn't have to pay the $10 account set up fee, but I'm sure new ones will. Even if you get something via USPS that would fit in your regular box, or a larger box at the bottom of the kiosk, it may still be placed in this package kiosk instead. Congratulations, you now have to pay to receive your mail. Another monetary concern is getting them to actually pay the advertised resident referral. Even meeting all stipulations required, don't count on it happening. I no longer refer people. Dog poop. If you enjoy it, this is the place for you. Some scoop behind their pets, but many do not. Man, does it smell. Shopping carts apparently belong in stairwells, parking spaces, or behind the dump, and not at the store. Who knew? Someone even drove an electric shopping cart home in time for Christmas last year! True story. In their defence, it was neatly parked by the front gate, so good job there I guess. That nice water/trash bill you get monthly may just leave you wondering when the concierge is picking up your garbage, but that's the bargain price for taking it out yourself to a dump that's frequently overflowing/broken. Parking can be scarce in areas of the property. The posted parking policy is by permit only, with labelled spaces for visitors. This is not enforced by management. They sent a letter to the entire property regarding the posted policy, stating that only one permit per lease holder would be issued. Complaints about excessive vehicles resulted in management quietly giving some residents additional permits for their other cars. Maintenance issues are often not tended to in a reasonable time frame. It once took nearly a week for them to repair the A.C. in the summer. It has been a month so far since I placed my most recent request, which has still not been fixed. Mold is an issue in and near the windows. When I told the office of the water damage caused by heavy condensation on the windows, they advised I wipe them down before leaving for work at 5 a.m.. This was in addition to the elementary school science lecture regarding temperature difference and condensation left on the work order. The plaster near the windows swells and rots. It has fallen away in places to reveal rust and having been painted over in the past. Now I just place towels on the window sill to catch the water, and bleach the mold as often as I can.
