I was more than a little surprised when I read the other reviews about Azalea Park Apartments. I actually applied and was accepted at three complexes but was so unhappy with the lack of customer service at the first two all I could imagine was if they aren't even interested in getting me to sign a lease to get my money, once they have it, I'll probably never get help or service from them. I have lived at Azalea Park for a year and three month, which means I was happy enough to sign a second year's lease. The office staff has always been friendly whenever I go in, they remember me by name and unit number (and that is saying a lot, this is a fairly large complex). I have had some health problems over the last year and every time I stop in to pick up a package, someone asks how I am doing and feeling and seems genuinely concerned. I am always surprised and pleased that management is in the office and active in day-to-day interaction with clients. Diana is the Assistant Manager, and it is nothing for her to come out of her office to help run a rent payment, go in the back room to grab a package for pick up or just to say high. This has definitely not been my experience elsewhere. Whenever I needed to talk to a manager they were never to be found, didn't return your call and wanted nothing to do with the everyday needs and questions of residents. When I read the other reviews out there the biggest comment seems to be about customer service and bugs. I already addressed customer service-for me it has been great, but I don't go in with an attitude, complaining; I go in politely and asked if someone can help me with whatever is going on. There are bound to be problems at even the best place, nothing is perfect no matter where you live, but if you want to be treated with respect, you need to give it. I watch people go in with an attitude and jump down the throat of workers who have no idea what is going on (not just here but everywhere) and then are surprised when they receive a less than enthusiastic response. As for the bugs, there was one time since I have been here that we had unusual bug activity and that was when there was consider commotion with connecting neighbors moving out and then someone moving in. My experience is that it isn't that unusual when that happens that it stirs up insect activity. I asked if I could have an "extra" bug spray other than their normal maintenance and they did so within a week. I have not had any other issues I think are of concern. Do I occasionally see a water bug, yes, I do. Sometimes it is one every couple weeks, sometimes there might be two in a week depending on the weather, and I think that is acceptable level of bugs. I'm trying to think of what else might be pertinent information. Repairs-- yes I have needed repairs. Sometimes they are able to come within 24 hours, sometimes it is a little longer, but within reason. As I reread my review, I think okay Colleen, there has to be SOME things you aren't happen with. And yes there is. I get frustrated with the gate being broke quite often. They fix it right away, but it pretty quick, hopefully they will put in a new one rather than continuing to fix one that is showing no signs of complying! The only other thing I find frustrating is the parking lot for my building fills up quickly so at times it means parking at the furthest spot possible and walking (which always happens when you have groceries), or on occasions there have been no spots and we have to park along side a curb. I hope any other potential renters will give all the reviews, not just mine consideration, but also take them with a grain of salt. I can't tell you why my experience seems to have been positive while others negative. But I am honest when I say if I was unhappy, I would NOT have signed a lease for a second year. I have twice BROKEN a lease and had to pay large penalties just to get out of places that I thought had too many problems to continual to deal with. Where ever you decide to move, here or somewhere else, I hope it is a good experience for you.
