Resident 2014

8/14/2014

Overall, these apartments are just okay, I don't know that I would ever recommend them to anyone. Staff: The manager never seems to be available when you go to the office and rarely answers the phone when we call. She'll leave a "Will Return" clock sign on the door, but is never back by the time posted, and usually doesn't actually return until an hour or two later, which can be very annoying and inconvenient. Noise: When in the apartment you can't usually hear the neighbors in the apartments next to you, but you can definitely hear doors slam and if someone is talking in the hallway you can hear everything they're saying. This wouldn't be a huge issue if there weren't always kids in the hallway of our building who are constantly running in and out, screaming in the stairwells, being loud and disruptive to other tenants. Also, when the children or anyone else, for that matter, are standing near the entry way or by our windows (bottom floor) we can hear them very clearly. When the kids are outside at ten o'clock at night, still screaming and running around, it makes it very difficult to get any sleep. I understand that these issues are more parent-related, but I feel that we shouldn't be able to hear every little noise outside our doors or windows. Grounds: Parking Sucks. If you get home any time after 5 or 6, forget parking near your own apartment building and be prepared for a nice stroll through the rest of the apartment grounds. They need to add parking space or have designated parking for each tenant or maybe ENFORCE their parking "rules." The cleanliness of the grounds is questionable. It's usually not really dirty, but there is tons of trash in the parking lot, and on the sidewalks, there are cigarette butts everywhere, and once, there was raw meat rotting in the fire lane. :/ Gross. Safety: I haven't had any issues as of yet. But that doesn't really mean I feel secure. There are some lights on the sides of the garages, but a lot of them need replaced. It's pretty creepy to walk by yourself out to your car at night. Neighborhood: Hidden Bluffs is a pretty good name. They are definitely tucked away, but it's only like a five minute drive from restaurants, schools, the strip, grocery store, or the gas station. The surrounding area seems decent. Never hear a lot of sirens or anything, so I assume that's a good thing. Maintenance: When we first came in, the toilet in the second bathroom was leaking all over. They told us they would send someone to fix it. Still to this day haven't met our maintenance man. A couple months later, our bedroom had a major leak in the ceiling and it was dripping directly onto our bed. We told her about the problem and it got fixed three days or so later. Not very convenient, but at least it got fixed. Cost: I'm not very impressed with the apartment complex, especially for how much we pay. Right now we pay $829 plus electric and water and there aren't very many perks that make the price seem reasonable. We could be living in a much nicer apartment for that rate. Laundry: One room in each building. One washer, one dryer in each room. Not very convenient. Never used it, probably will never use it. The one time I went into the laundry room, I was instantly sweating and someone was already using both machines. Needless to say, we take our laundry elsewhere to do it, which means laundry usually only gets done once a week. Apartment: The doors are annoyingly hard to open in our apartment. We have to use extra force to open and close both our bedroom door and the bathroom door. And when we open or close the doors they make a lot of noise. The bathroom is okay...there is some kind of fluid that runs down the walls when it gets warm in there from the humidity. I don't know if it's rust or what... and we have to clean the toilet at least once a week because the water leaves stains on the inside part of the bowl. The kitchen is very small, but there is a dishwasher which is nice. The living room is huge for an apartment. The dining area kind of just melds with the living room.
