Resident 2016 - 2017

8/19/2017

I agree with some of the complaints in previous reviews. But at any apartment complex, some problems can be laid at the feet of management, and some can be laid at the feet of tenants. One reviewer suggests that people with pets are treated unfairly. But it clearly states in the lease that pet owners are to use designated areas (and there are several) when they take their pets to do their business. So no, it is NOT to expected that stains in the grass from pets. I have pet-owning neighbors who bring their pets downstairs and stop right on the entry sidewalk and go no further while their pets pee on the grass. That's the same grass children walk in when they're outside playing. When people can't abide by the rules, they need to be held to account, not blame it on the management. Most problems at Valley View would be rectified if tenants would just act like responsible adults. Most of the problems arise when they don't. A good example is the garbage that gets strewn on the lawns. Doesn't take rocket science to figure out that when the dumpsters are full, and if no one is clever enough to notice that they actually have lids on them, then closing the lids helps guard against the wind blowing loose items like tissue paper onto someone's patio or onto the lawn. Should be a no-brainer, but that goes on at any apartment complex. I agree that the office is too often empty with "no one home." Or you make phone calls about a problem and no one bothers to call back, so you can sit for a week or two without knowing if they intend to resolve the situation or whether it simply got shelved. The lease stipulates that garage doors must be kept closed. But there is one that we drive past on a regular basis that is not only kept halfway open, but the reason is because some guy keeps a boat in there, and the front of the boat plus the trailer hitch sticks out of the garage about 4 feet, so anyone driving by is subject to having their vehicle scraped by it. Of course, this won't be addressed because we are told that the boat belongs to the boyfriend of the manager. There is a serious lack of parking places available for tenants, but if you ask about the availability of garages, there are supposedly all taken. Yeah. And a number of those are taken by maintenance for storage of appliances, despite that there is a whole bank of garages (four in a row) that are for maintenance purposes. Add two more and that makes 6 garages used by maintenance. Overall, I find that I a happy living here because I know that other places have the same issues-it comes with apartment living. I do believe the hallway areas are definitely in need of carpet replacement; they're old, worn and dirty. Carpet cleaning doesn't always do the trick and even when it is, it's only temporary. Mostly, tenants just need to be more responsible and things would run more smoothly for other tenants. People who live here aren't overly friendly; they make little effort to be kind to others, except that most of the older folks are friendly. And quiet. The dishwashers here are so loud it's like sitting inside a car wash. Also, crappy, entry-level refrigerators.
