Cityville on 9th

I've been living in a one-bedroom unit at Cityville since May and it has been a fantastic experience. Units were all equipped with new appliances when we moved in, and just about everything worked smoothly. Any small issues we had with leaks or jams were answered promptly by maintenance. There's a few minor issues with the setup, such as the balcony door's handle interfering with the blinds (would be better equipped with a door knob) and cupboard doors not being exactly aligned. Living on the second floor, we can hear our neighbors in our bedroom and on the floor above us, but nothing at a disruptive level. Considering the amount of pets living here, that's very impressive! If you love various cats and dogs, this is the place for you. They welcome them with open arms and the tenants take advantage. The community area is very nice. It may be smaller than other complexes, but it makes up for it in quality. There is a free coffee station that's recently been upgraded with eight coffee choices for a Keurig machine. It's always constantly stocked and the options change frequently. Also available is a meeting room, three computer stations, a movie theater equipped with Apple TV and an open HDMI port for gaming, a pool table, foosball, shuffleboard, a bar area equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, and multiple lounging areas with TVs. It also can all be reserved for special events. Just outside of the community area is a 24/7 fitness center that has everything you really need from gyms. If that's enough for entertainment, Cityville is located on the outskirts of downtown Des Moines. It's just a 15-20 minute walk to Court Ave, and we definitely enjoy being so close to el Bait Shop. For those that want to be close to the downtown experience but don't want to necessarily live in it, this is your best bet. Last but not least is the staff. Jeff has been the best apartment manager I've dealt with and is very easy to get in contact with. His friendly attitude along with the general positive nature of the tenants make this a really fun place to live. The prices are fair; there are certainly cheaper places to live in downtown but the quality of living, new appliances, community options, and great staff all make it worth it. Definitely worth considering if you're browsing at places to live near downtown DSM.
