Resident 2019

1/17/2019

I have been living at Parkside East Apartments for the past year since about March of 2018. The only thing I like about living back here is I'm close to a bus line and it's relatively close to a few things (a McDonald's, Family Dollar, Goodwill) and HyVee, Walgreens, and a few restaurants are accessable via the route 17 DART bus on Weekends and Route 50 on weekdays. However, since being a resident here for the past year, while the apartments themselves are decent, the neighborhood in the complex is anything but pleasant. I've got a neighbor across the hall that always slams her ra-damned door, neighbors on one side of me that always bang on the wall when I play music (always at a reasonable level, not too loud, I ain't like that) during the day, constantly hearing them argue through the paper think walls, kids running up and down the hallway like bloody wild animals, I could go on. Point is, my neighbors suck --- as well as the office staff. Last summer, there was a flood (end of June/July 2018) and the staff was pisspoor at communicating to the residents of when we could move back into our units, those of us who were ok higher floors. Back when it all happened, they promised the first floor units would be worked on and be ready in a year. Nothing has been done, currently 54 or so units are empty, the construction/maintenance staff are very lazy, and unprofessional. You'd think that you'd want to get these units ready to receive residents and what not. Nope. Basically if you in a wheelchair or have trouble walking, I wouldn't recommend living here. Also on the subject on the flood, staff was poor at communicating to us residents. They kept him hawing and not giving a clear timeline when the higher floors residents could move back into our units. During this flood, we were displaced for a month and little to no help was provided for us. This basically killed any respect I had for the managers and land ladies. Again, pisspoor --- staff. Also if you call to report anything (noisy neighbors who play they music too loud at night, roach/pest sightings, maintenance issues; there is a dryer on the 3rd floor of the D building that just eats your money and you have to run it Twice to get your clothes dry. It's been reported and nothing has been done about it.) Nothing gets done. Or they say they will do something and again nothing ever happened. Competent staff.... hahaha NOT! Regarding things like grounds keeping, cleanliness, etc: well let's just say the BARE MINIMUM is maintained if that. The hallways of the hallways are always dirty; trash debris can always be found in hallways (food wrappers, trash, other various items, all astrewn about without a care), grounds are always full of rubbish and garbage, stairways are always dirty, as well as the carpet in the common areas look like trash. Basically, no care is taken in maintaining the Parkside East Apartment complex and it really should be shut down. The neighborhood here is bloody awful, kids run amuck like wild animals, crazy --- neighbors, noisy and inconsiderate neighbors, people always slamming their doors, banging on walls or in their apartments. Safety is also a concern here for me as well. I don't feel safe in my own apartment as I feel like it would take one pissed off neighbor, even with the door locked could break into your apartment. Security is non-existent, and the neighborhood here is unpredictable and people should think twice before living here. As soon as my lease is up I am moving out of this piece of ---- apartment complex. Nobody should have to feel resentment or hatred towards their place of residence nor their neighbors. It's disappointing honestly; terrible staff, ------ neighbors, spoiled --- kids, etc. Make this place unbearable in more ways than one. Should you live here? Absolutely not. Unless you want to deal with ---- neighbors, crappy staff, and deal with seeing trash in the hallways Everytime you come home, give this place a HARD pass.
