I loved my apartment, it was nice and big, lots of character. Needed a lot of tlc but never seen management. Car was vandalized in parking lot. Mgr set me up with another tenant, a friend of hers, to fix it. Gave him money to order part, never fixed it. Waited 3 months. Nothing. His wife attacked me inside the lobby of the bldg because I asked again for my money back. Made police report, went to er. When I got back to Bellevue, the mgr was pissed and said.."WE DO NOT CALL THE COPS IN THIS BUILDING." So. I guess you can have the main door secured, cameras, alarms.. blah blah. What the ---- is that going to do for you when you have a mgr like that?! Really?! I left right after that incident. Ridiculous.

I have lived in 3 different apartments here at the Bellevue over several years so I have seen MANY managers come and go. The current one, who has been in charge for 2-3 years now I would say, is on top of things! She also lives here in the building so she knows how important keeping a nice building is so she really cares. Halls, apartments, and ballroom has been completely remodeled and it looks beautiful here now, no longer looks dumpy and trashy. Doors remain locked after 5:30pm until sometime early morning so they only way in is for a tenant to let you in or to have a key so the building is very secure. They have several security cameras outside around the entire building as well is every floor at every end. The new manager does tenant meetings every few months to keep everyone up to date with whats going on with the building and will hold potlucks for tenants to attend and do karaoke. We had a Christmas party in 2013 and also did a food drive and it was donated to a Sioux City family outside the building. Its a very kid-friendly/family-friendly place to be, I have 2 kids of my own. Apartments are huge and very reasonable price, other apartments I have looked at are only half the size for the same price if not more. Utilities are also very affordable, you only pay for gas & electric so my bill in the summer runs around $100-$150 and winter around $40-$60.

The apartment is adequate; overpriced I think. The management is unreliable, unavailable, and rude after the initial meeting. They are extremely slow to fix anything. Week or longer, mostly longer) They act annoyed when you submit a request to fix a problem.

Getting Better Everyday !
I have lived at the Bellevue Apartments for a few years. I love it here ! They have been making so many improvements to the building and apartments. They have added security cameras to the building. The emergency exits have installed new alarms. And are installing a new boiler. They came yesterday and installed new mini blinds in my apartment. I have seen some of the apartments that they have remodeled. They are beautiful ! Makes me want to into one of them. They are always adding something new to the ballroom, and have events just for the tenants. If you are looking for a good place to live, that doesn't look like every other apartment in town. Then the Bellevue is the place to be.

Love it !
The Bellevue Apartments were built in the early 1900's. The lobby is beautiful, the craftsmanship of the wood workis amazing. Each apartment is a little different from the next one. We have a new manager, she is great. She is really getting things done around here. She is redoing apartments. Updateing paint colors, removing the carpet, and redoing the hard wood floors. They are adding a memorial libary on A floor. They also have on site security guard who checks the building and grounds 3 times a night. The ballroom is being re-done. It's going to be beautiful when it's done. It's about time some took over the building that really cares about the building and the tenants.

Nice place to live
I have read some of the nasty comments I was at the Bellevue for almost two years it has a beauty all it s own. They do go through management frequently but it is a huge undertaking for most people, The halls look great the lobby is gorgeous, the people are friendly, I have meet with owner personally and he is a very nice man listened to my concerns and told me about upcoming projects, the elevators are an issue some times but there has always been people there to fix major problems when they arise I was always given fair warning when they needed into the apartment. I was always greeted with a smile when I came into the office to discuss issues or just to visit, I felt my concerns were addressed in a timely manner, I still have friends in the building I see frequently and I have never heard them say a bad word I recommend this apartment building to any family or single person.

Things are looking up.
While it is ture that the Bellevue has had some bad luck. Things are looking up. I know because I live here. The halls have all been painted. They hired a full time maintance Man. A new Groundskeeper,(he's hot) :) as well as a new Manager. She came to my apartment to introduce herself, and inspect my apartment for any repairs that need to be made. While she didn't not promise that she could get it fixed tomorrow, they have already started working on the repairs. They do have events in the ballroom on some weekends. But not as often as they use to have. I heard that the ballroom is closing. That's to bad, because it is beautiful. The apartment building itself was built in the early 1900's. The lobby is remarkable. The wood work and craftmanship are outstanding. My apartment isn't just the sqaure box like most standard apartments. I looked at several apartments in the area before I picked the Bellevue as my home. The apartment building is a block away from Grandview Park. I like to walk there in the evenings.

Hell
The Bellevue could be a beautiful place, it has such great history and character. Unfortunately, the management has been horrible and the current managers are worthless. They are liars and really do not care about their tenants. The building is infested with bed bugs and it is falling apart. The elevators are always broken, the hallways and stairways are filthy. Seek shelter somewhere else!!!

Too bad it's not as amazing as it could be.
I really loved my apartment during my brief stay. I would probably still fight to get it back if I had the opportunity simply because of its charm and the building's history. It would, however, be quite a headache. It is a very beautiful, very old building that has had some very unfortunate owners and managers. As it turns out, the management that was in control when I moved in was committing some sort of fraud and left very abruptly. It seemed a little shifty from the beginning, mostly because I was not asked to sign any kind of lease, only to sign off on a background check and write a check for the security deposit. We found out later that the little paperwork that had been filed under that management was shredded. The family that owns the DJ business on the bottom floor of the building took over and it turned into a very uncomfortable environment. There were suddenly many evictions for some less-than-legitimate reasons, including claimed "violations" of lease agreements that had never been signed under previous management. Maintenance was atrocious, especially in regards to the beautiful architecture of the historic building. The elevators rarely ran, several broken mailbox doors hung open, the plumbing badly needed to be addressed, and the front entrance door, which would lock, would rarely close all the way to actually latch, to name a few problems. Like I said, the apartments and the building are lovely and charming, and the price is certainly right. But, if you're looking for responsible management and a friendly community, this is no the place for you. I will gladly give them my endorsement and my business when they can get some experienced property mangers in there.

Worst apartment I have ever lived in
As my title states, this is the worst place I have ever lived. I would NOT recommend this to anyone, not even my worst enemy. The building is on the edge of a horrible neighborhood, although the houses surrounding it are nice. One block over is gangland, so don't venture out alone at night! The other tenants are loud and obnoxious, with kids running around the building unsupervised all day long. The building is near falling apart, which is a shame because it could be beautiful if an owner would put some much-needed time and money into it. I have been promised over and over that repairs will be made, rennovations will be done, new carpets will be installed, new paint, etc....in two years, there have been minimal improvements. The maintenance staff is horrible, if you call one part-time person a "staff". The "management company" could care less what goes on in the building, as long as the rent checks arrive on time. I was promised the moon when I was moving in. Everything was a lie and I have been stuck there ever since. I am counting down the days until I can leave this hellhole, which isn't long now. Thank God.
