If I would have known what we were getting into a year ago, I would have never moved into this place. I was excited at first because the layout and fixtures looked nice. However, those "nice" fixtures are cheap plastic. They advertise these apartments as luxury, but they are clearly not. The diswasher does not clean dishes at all, the dryer takes two full drying cycles to dry my clothes, and the dishwaser and dryer are so loud I cannot watch TV when they are running. Today is July 25th and the pool is still not open. Seriously!? Also, my secured entry door has been not secured for the past 2 months. It was fianlly fixed yesterday, except they messed it up and my key will not work. I had to talk around to the other side of the building to get it. I pay for the amenities. Do you think they will lower my rent if these things I pay for do not work? Of course not. Maintenance is a joke. When we moved it the tiles in the bathroom and kitchen were loose and the grout was crumbling. We were asked by management to let them know when we would be gone for a long weekend so it could be fixed. So we did. We were left on a Thursday and came home Monday night. When did they fix it? Monday during the day. Then left us a note saying not to walk on the floor for over 24 hours. Hello! I need to be able to use my bathroom and kitchen. Within 1 day the tiles became loose again and the grout started to crumble. We didn't bother making another maintenance request. Our dryer quit working a few months ago. We called the request in on a Saturday. Maintenance came on the following Friday (a week later) to fix it. The dryer was louder than before and still takes 2 full cycles to dry anything. The apartment is super drafty. This winter our electrical bills were outrageous. During one month the bill was $170 and I live in a 1-bedroom 640 square foot apartment! My cousin who lives 3 blocks away in at 3 bedroom 1200 square foot house, the same month had a $100 electric bill. My apartment was over two garages. One garage was under the living room, the other was under my bedroom. The floor of my bedroom was so cold this summer, I had to lay blankets and clothes on the floor to help insulate. We could not walk on the carpeted floor without socks on. The walls are very thin. The neighbor above us couln't weigh much more than 100lbs, but it sounded like an elephant up there. We would blare her music at 6am or vacuum at 11pm. Then she decided to get a dog. The dog does not like being in his kennel. I know this because the dog will bark constanly for hours on end. This usually starts at about 6:30am no matter what day of the week it is. Even on the weekends when I want to sleep in. When we had enough we called the office to report it and they refused to do anything about it. They said that was a noise disturbance and that we needed to call the police. I am not going to call the police about a barking dog. They have better things to deal with. The office could have simply called the person and let her know what was going on. I ended up leaving a friendly note with the neighbor. Didn't help. When we got the renewal letter (a month and a half after they said we would get it) the rent had gone up $90. This place isn't worth what we were already paying. To add $90, I don't know who they think they are kidding. If we went month to month the rent would have gone up over $300. Our lease is up and we are moving in less than a week. I am so happy to be done with this place.
