THE BEST POLISHED TURD I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!

DO NOT LIVE HERE EVER!!!!!!!!! My boyfriend and I have been living in the Washington Heights Apartments for about a week now, and let me tell you they pulled a good one on us! We were ready to move out after the first night. We got one of the "newly remodeled" apartments. The master walk in closet is probably the only good part about the whole place. The kitchen is nice, don't get me wrong; all new cabinets, appliances, sinks, and hardware. The fridge doesn't even keep cheese cold (the temp. gauge doesn't even work), the sink makes a loud noise and leaks from the sprayer, and the garbage disposal leaks all over the cabinet and floor. The ceilings throught the whole place are sagging (like the above apartment had water damage). The "new paint" is a complete joke. All they did was paint over the existing crap on the walls (dust, chipped paint, and holes were barely patched) so all of the walls are really bumpy and the baseboards look really dirty because the old dust and chipped paint was just painted over. The larger bathroom is awful. The washer/dryer closet doors don't close, the toilet clogs when you pee, and the drains don't drain (we had maintenance come and unclog the drains and they still won't drain), the shower leaks from behind the fixtures (so eventually the bathroom will flood), and our first night the towel rack fell off the wall. Not only do we have to pay close to $1100.00 a month for rent, we aren't even provided our own washer and dryer so we are forced to use the community one. Today, the washer leaked into our apartment and flooded our hallway (we're right next to the laundry room). We washed 3 regular sized loads of laundry. Also, you will be lucky to find more than one outlet in each room that works. Those are just a few of the maintenance problems. NOISE is the other problem. Little kids are constantly playing on our back porch, SCREAMING up to the third floor. Our neighbor also has a little boy that screams up to the 3rd floor in the hallway. The second night we lived here I had to go upstairs and ask our neighbors to quiet down because they were so loud. Luckily they did without problem. That day we also had teenagers throwing a nurfball at our sliding door. The front door is so thin that you can hear a pin drop in the hallway. We should have known not to move here after we read a lot of the reviews, but we are new to Iowa and needed a place to move ASAP. Living here a week, it has given us time to find another place to move. We will be out of Washington Heights after 2 weeks. Breaking the lease is less of an issue to us than being happy with the place we live and feeling safe and comfortable. As young professionals, we expect a community that feels safe, neighbors that are respectful, and peace and quiet - especially for $1100.00 a month. We also found out that the remodeled apartments average $400.00 a month more than the older ones. People are also really mad about the pool not being open, doesn't bother us - we would never use it after most of these people anyway.
