Resident 2006

7/1/2006

I hated it here!

I moved in here to save some money but it was not worth the trouble. I lived in building 190 and there were false fire alarms all the time! The security is a joke! People just let anyone in the doors and with no cameras to monitor who is coming and going it is really not that safe. There was no onsite security. During the weeknights a security company drove through the parking lot twice a night and during the weekend they were there more often. Cars were getting broke into while I was still living there (may 2006) and the homeless slept in the stair wells during the winter sometimes! The parking guys (I called them parking ----’s) were so rude! I found it very inconvenient that you couldn’t have overnight guests during the week without them having to pay $12. If you get up at 6am you can avoid the $12 parking fee but who wants to get up that early? During the summer month’s people go out into the court yards at all hours of the night, the yelling and laughing woke me up all the time (it sounds like someone is in your bedroom). The elevator broke several times while I was living there. I lived on the 7th floor so this was a problem! The doors in the stair well are locked and they don't give you a key to unlock them so when the elevator is broken you have to walk to the other side of the building to use that elevator. It doesn't sound that bad but after a few days it gets really annoying. There is a constant change in staff at the office. When I first moved in the staff was great but within a few months there were new staff members and neither of them seemed capable of answering a phone let alone answering a simple question. I had problems with maintenance requests getting “lost”. They charge you a ridiculous amount for cleaning when you move out. After I moved out I got stuck with a $640 cleaning bill (even after the $300 deposit was deducted) for a one bedroom apartment! My daughter bleached a spot on the carpet but the rest of the apartment was clean when I left. I planned on paying for the carpet but then I got charged to clean the apartment and paint it. It was ridiculous! Even with the convenience of living downtown and close to BSU I really don’t think this place is worth the trouble!
