Resident 2015

7/25/2015

If there were a prized title for being the worst apartment complex to ever apartment, the award would go to this complex HANDS DOWN! They have a blurb at the bottom of their page that says they are non-discriminatory. That is crap. I gave them full and fair warning of the medical alert dog I was acquiring. On the day of move in we talked to the manager/owner about the service dog and all he said was that we should turn in a doctor's note and even then he told us that the "owner" (who is the same person as the manager, but lied about his identity, which is illegal) wouldn't go for it. WOULDN'T ALLOW A SERVICE DOG TO LIVE ON THE PREMISES??? stating that the contract says any and all animals are not allowed. the thing is, service animals are not considered "animals" or "pets" but are legitimate medical devices. It's like saying "I'm sorry, your oxygen tank isn't allowed in my apartment. Your oxygen tank must go. Oh, and, I'm going to break the law and only giving you a one day eviction and no time to cure the problem. Thanks for staying here! Please rent again!". Once we gave the doctor's note, he wasn't supposed to ask anymore questions or even consider evicting us. But he came over a few days later to try and weasel his way out of the doctor's note by saying that the phrase written by the licensed doctor who has written a thousand of these letters is a "gray area" and his attorney doesn't know how to take it. If he had a smart attorney, the attorney would have said, "yup. doctor's note. that's all it takes." Once we were evicted with one day's notice for a service animal (Idaho's law states that the landlord must give a 3 day term to cure the problem and then if the problem is cured, no eviction. if not, then, ya know) he shows up with an attorney's note to tell us of the move out expenses. I'm pretty sure just a regular note from his less than qualified staff would suffice for letting us know our fees. but instead he gets an attorney to do that. and then states that we owe the attorney these fees. Also, we have confirmation that our keys were turned in but we were charged for lost keys anyways. the move out process is very sketchy and leaves a lot of wiggle room for them state invalid fees such as damage, cleaning, and keys. without going into much more detail, the landlord deceives and does not know how to run an apartment complex legally. And his staff are high school students who don't have communication as coworkers and have no prior experience with working with apartments. I'm not blaming the staff, however. They are all friendly and trying to do their job as best as they can with what they have. then the layout of the floorplans are ridiculous. they have a hook up for a washer and dryer but in the most inconvenient corner. and if you have one, it blocks the smallest air conditioner in the world. and putting one in guarantees that there will be nicks in the wall. worst apartment I've ever been in!
