Resident 1999 - 2002

8/21/2002

We have lived here for 3 years. Only because we need a 2 bedroom and it was the only one we could afford. We are finally moving out and I am so glad! I don´t even know where to begin.

When we moved in, we were to make a walk through and write down anything that needed to be fixed. We did so, and NOT once, did any of the things we needed fixed ever get fixed in those 3 years. Closet doors that are just leaning up against the walls because they were broken and off when we moved in. Ceiling fan that has never worked. Huge ant problem in our kitchen that when we brought it to the attention of the office we were just told "to use sprays and traps" which never solved the problem and that we had to pay for out of our own pockets. Those are only a few examples. There are many more, trust me.

Parking is a nightmare. It is usually not that hard to find a spot. That part is fine. But since moving out of my parents house, I have lived in 3 different apartments. This is the only one that charged to park there ($30 a year) and yet the only one I have ever had my car vandalized at. You would think that if you pay for parking, they would make it safe. Nope. Since living here, my car was vandalized twice. First it had 3 tires slashed and the paint on my trunk all scrathed up by someone "keying" it. The second, my window was smashed in and everything inside stolen. The person I live with also had 2 of her tires slashed (same nite I had my 3 slashed actually). They do have security that drives through here at night, but when you only have 1 security car driving around through the whole complex, there is plenty opportunity for someone to vandalize cars. And it happens almost on a nightly basis.

The neighborhood is bad altogether. Tons of people that are very loud. Music blaring all over the place, guys that whistle or stare at women non stop like pigs (I´m a guy and I even find it offensive at how much it happens), broken beer bottles on the ground almost nightly (which I do give credit to the guy that walks the complex every day and cleans it up), and of course, the vandalization that occurs. I have never lived in such a poor place in my life. Arlington Heights does have a "------" area and this is it.

I am embarrased to have people come over just because they have to go through the complex. People here are very rude. I think some of them even try to look for ways to sew people. I can´t count how many times I have had to slam on my brakes because some kid or even an adult has been riding a bike along the side of the road and as soon as you are very near, they turn out into the street right in front of you causing you to slam on your brakes. Or just people that walk down the middle of the road and won´t move when a car comes. Very annoying.

I have never been so happy as I am right now because I know in a week, I am finally leaving this hell hole. I can´t stand it here. And neither can some of the other nice people here like the ones in my building. All the nice, normal, respectable people are looking to get out because this place is full of nothing but inconciderate, crazy, wild freaks.

I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. As well as never live here again. I would rather go get some nice cardboard boxes and live in a corner on the street somewhere than to live here ever again.
