Colony West Apartments
Resident • 2010 - 2012 Not Recommended
I lived at Colony West for about two years. The rent was not unreasonable but I did expect a bit more for what I payed, as the buildings and units were fairly outmoded and in need of some updates. When it comes to costs, I was also surprised at how much I ended up paying for water and electricity. The walls were thick enough in terms of sound, but I've also experienced my apartment being filled with tobacco odor from adjoining units. The neighborhood is certainly not the best in town and people do tend to pass through and loiter on the complex grounds. Working with the staff was hit-or-miss. Carefully document the condition of your unit if you have pets. I was charged for pet damages even after a thorough cleaning and no sign of damages when I left the unit. The office manager claimed that the man who deals with the carpets is allergic to cats and apparently has a sense of clairvoyance when it comes to cat urine (he "just knows"). Requesting to be present during the move-out inspection may prevent Colony West from using your deposit as an open checkbook. My neighbors were generally friendly, but I also encountered plenty that were nosy and gossipy. Overall, Colony West could possibly be a good place for someone looking for a very basic apartment, but I would encourage anyone to look around the area to see if they could find a better unit at a better price.
