Resident 2005 - 2006

7/22/2006

I chose Linden Towers based on what I read here. I also just read the previous posts about this place, and I can't disagree more. I have lived here for a little over a year, and the only reason I'm moving out is because I bought my own place. I've never had a problem with parking, and I park on the upper deck of the parking garage. There's always plenty of spaces up there. If you'd like to pay extra to park on the lower level then it is full and there might be a waiting list. I'm fine with the free stuff. My apartment had new carpeting when I moved in, and everything was nicely painted and well maintained. I wouldn't say "old and outdated" at all. The 6-panel doors add a nice touch. If I ever had a maintenance issue I would get a work order and it would be fixed within a day. Jane who works the office is really nice, and so is the Maintenance guy.

I have never seen any "code violations" and my apartment is really nice. No rust on my tub!

I got a South facing apartment based on the reccomendations here. It is quieter then the ones facing the train, but you can still hear the train. Once in a while a plane flies over head (2-3 planes a week), but that's not bad either. Not for living right next to the world's busiest airport. The street noise on Green street can be bothersome, so I suggest a South facing apartment on one of the upper floors. I always got annoyed with the people speeding by blaring loud music. That's always been worse then the train or the planes. If you close your windows, they're so well insulated that you can't hear a thing.

I have no idea what that other person was saying about the balcony railing. It's a steel railing bolted to concrete. I'm an Engineer, and I see no problems with that.

The only complaint I have is sometimes the elevators and the floors are not cooled so well in the summer, and can get kind of drafty in the winter.

Bottom line- if you're looking for an apartment in Bensenville, go with either Linden Towers or Royal Grove. They're both really nice and worth the price. Linden Towers, being right across the street from the Metra, is perfect for anyone working downtown.
