I am a new MBA graduate moving from Chicago for a job. Jessica from Gentry Square was great. She showed me all the apartments I wanted to see and even worked out the lease so I can move to a bigger apartment (since it's hard to get a big one bedroom immediately). She even went through the trouble of helping me measure the dimensions of the apartment for my furniture. Granted, I haven't lived here for that long... but all the residents I met are nice. Some departing residents even came by the office to say goodbye and hug Jessica (I've never seen that before!) So I'd say it's a nice community. It's very quiet and pretty. On the other hand the rest of the apartments I've seen are terrible. Victoria Point - slow management (called three times for an appointment) and living in close view to a broken down manufacturing plant of some sort with broken windows. Ginger Creek- I'm pretty sure they're racist. They ask me to fill out a background check before even showing me any apartments (never happened before). And then they asked me when I wanted to move in and then promptly told me there are no apartments by that time. (I'm pretty sure they wanted me out of there). I am a college educated working professional with a tier 1 credit score... but yet, I guess tan skin disqualifies you from ginger creek. Baytowne- I don't ever recall a residental area being so close to a commercially zoned area. I'm sure that security gate is there for a reason. I could literally go on forever. But, my advice is that if you're moving to champaign, just skip all the hassle and just go see Jessica first.
