Gentry Square Apartments
Resident · 2009 - 2010
I've lived in Urbana-Champaign for ten years, and Gentry Square is by far the best accommodations for graduate student/young professional types. It is a bit far by U-C standards ( /- 4.5 miles) from the University, but with that distance comes a unique, quiet, family-friendly environment. The staff is incredibly friendly, upbeat and attentive. We had a few "problems" with our apartment during our stay, but these were attended to promptly and effectively. The community is very nice, and you oftentimes see the neighborhood children playing together by the pond or at the pool. The kitchen is a bit outdated (especially as compared to the models), but renovations are underway, and everything works fine. We had a second floor apartment, and the lofted ceilings let in a lot of light and made the apartment feel very spacious. The staff know each of their tenants, and arrange holiday parties in the clubhouse. All in all, we got to know many of our neighbors. Also, we very rarely heard our neighbors through the walls. Once in a while we would hear a TV murmur. We had a newborn, and our neighbors said they didn't hear her cry! I was amazed at how quiet our apartment was.
