Resident 2010 - 2012

Much better than other places in CU

I've been living at W. Healey at for a few years and it's been a pretty decent experience. Like all apartments, it's not perfect and you have to weigh the pros and cons of different places. The best part about my experience here has been the staff. They respond very quickly, try to be as helpful as possible and are genuinely concerned that you have a good experience. They are very attentive to problems with bad neighbors, unlike other places in CU. My last apartment manager basically told me to suck it up and I moved. The only problem with the office is that they are very inflexible. They have strict policies, sometimes over silly stuff, and don't make any exceptions, no matter what your circumstances. I realize that they are a big company and it's less headache for them to have a hard line, but still. I cannot say enough good things about the maintenance staff. They are extremely quick and very polite. The head of maintenance is the sweetest man and he will treat you very well and help you with whatever you need. He's like a kindly, handy grandpa. I've lived in a lot of apartments over the past 10 years and maintenance here is probably the best. No laziness at all, always cheerful. Like with all people, be nice and show them respect. This particular location is extremely convenient and affordable. However, this apartment complex is SO HOT. As soon as it hits the 70s outside the inside will get into the 80s and stay there, even when it cools off outside. The wall unit in one of the bedrooms cools that one room, but not the rest. If you don't mind making a maze of fans and don't mind heat, you'll be ok. However, if you hate being hot, this might not be the place for you. I have a hard time sleeping here from May-October. I can also hear every. single. thing. that happens in the apartment below mine. The guy next to me and I never hear e/o, but the floor/ceilings are extremely thin. The parking lot is an acoustical nightmare. For some reason, if your front windows are open, everyone in the parking lot can hear everything you say and vice-versa. What might actually not be a lot of noise (people talking in the parking lot) becomes unbearably loud. The kitchen is teeny-tiny, but it's not like they're trying to trick you and pretend it's something it's not. Just don't rent here if you need a normal kitchen. Beware of hysterical postings like "OMG worst place ever!!!!!" It's not the worst place ever. It's an average place with a good staff. If you feel like you're being mistreated, speak to someone else in the office and be polite.
