Resident 2012

11/6/2012

The unit that I signed for last summer had people living their renew. So UV reassigned me to a different unit in the back of the complex, explaining that it was "better" for me since it was quiet and full of medical students. I wanted the unit I have written clearly in my lease for, not something else. Also, the building in which the new unit exists is abandoned and I would have been in the only unit. I asked for an alternative and they said none is available, but if I had any questions, to let them know. They couldn't help me, so I got a different apartment. UV sent my information to collections two weeks ago claiming that I accepted the unit (which I never did and they don't have proof since I didn't initial the key acceptance form) and also that I have a new unit. They changed my lease without my approval (again I did not initial the unit no. change). UV is aggressive and I am in a bind since I owe $15,000. Right now, I'm in the process of a lawsuit, but I might end up paying $15,000 and not getting anything back. Almost evey lawyer in Champaign is with UV.
