caught creepy owner in apt 2X's when i was getting out of shower.

I lived in one of their apts on jackson ave. it was a house divided into 3 apartments. the one I lived in sucked the most. the kitchen was in the hallway with no ventilation so there wasn't a smoke alarm because it would keep going off. the fusses always blew in the apt and i didn't have access to the fuss box to turn them back on. I also didn't have control of heat in my apt and when i space heaters to heat my apt, the owners complained i was using too much energy. On two occasions i caught the creepy old owner in my apt when i got out of the shower. He didn't contact me at all about coming into my apt. He didn't fix anything. My door frame was caulked together from someone kicking the door in. I had to fix it myself. when i told him about it he just said don't you feel safe with a big turkish man living upstairs. the fire extinguisher was in the entry way and unaccessable because mattresses where piled up on top of it. I wouldn't recommend anyone renting to them. You would be happier living in… See More>

    Very wierd Owners

Don't expect any privacy, Years ago when I rented from these people and worked third shift they would several times a week come by unannounced in the morning to replace the network cabling over and over, use my bathroom when doing maintenance down the hall, or apparently just to snoop around despite the fact that I let them know I worked 3rd shift that I didn't appreciate this and this was frequently waking me up. Also frequently seeing roaches and mice when living there for the year or so I had this lease. Heater broke for about half a week in the dead of winter once as well and I had to get a space heater just to make my apt not freeze over.

      go elsewhere

don't expect for maintance to fix anything and if you refuse to pay the rent and late fees taht add up until they do they evict you very fast not even giving you and your family 30 days...the people who bought out campbells and chuck vegas seem to only care about money not happy tenets as they have people wanting to rent all the time. very noisy.

        Run..Run...Run Away!! Faster!!!!

Worst renting experience of my life!
Awful upkeep. Didn't fix anything. Always breaking down and then they tried to blame tenents for huge problems that had been festering long before we moved in. I moved from an apartment on the square to a house and things just got worse.

          worst ever

i lived at campbells aprtments for 10 months, and it was the worst ever. We had an infestation on roaches during summer when we moved in, no heat in the winter, and my bathroom was uninhabitable for most of spring. However, i still had to pay my rent! I do not think this is right.

            Freezing!

The heater never worked very well, it topped out at about 70 degrees. When the landlord was on vacation in January, the heater completely broke down. It was fifty degrees in the house! When I called the maintaince man, he was creepy, didn't know how to fix it, and initially refused to call his boss for help (and I think he broke the toilet when he used it). The freezing continued for two weeks. When the landlord returned he yelled at me for complaining and refused to compensate us for the inconvenience.
Other than that they were really nice (although they did show they apartment without warning us beforehand, twice). The apartment had the potential to be really pretty but could use some work, like covering the bare lightbulbs or changing the squishy, moldy carpet.
Our door was mysteriously unlocked sometimes after they did work in the apartment, which really made us feel unsafe because we kept some valuables inside.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

There are huge cockroaches, at least one a month, if you don't use roach and ant spray, but even then, they can come from other people's apartments.

Paint is peeling.

Pipes get clogged very easily, especially in the kitchen sink and in the toilet, the two places used most frequently.

Small rooms that don't even fit a bed are attempted to pass off as second or third bedrooms to raise the rent price.

Some doors don't latch properly, which diminishes privacy.

The landlord will show up without notice to show other people my apartment, even when you've said you still need to live here for another 6 months passed the end of your first lease. When I've asked them for verification of the extention of my lease, I have received nothing except a copy of my current lease, with no changes made to accommodate for the sheet I signed for them, saying I want to extend my lease. They have shown up while I've been sleeping, and once, showed up about 5-10 minutes after I finished dressing from the shower. Had I still been in the shower, that would have been horrible, since their… See More>

                Location

I like my apartment and how it was close enough to champus I could walk if I had to, yet the Panther Bus came by every hour anyway. It was near to the towns movie theator where it only costs $2.50 to watch a movie! There are restaurants and pubs nearby too, so I could get a bite to eat or relax playing a game of pool, and be back in my apartment without even driving.

My only problem was with the parking, as the court house employees won´t use their assigned parking and walk the 1/2 block to their workplace. So parking on the square is ridiculous, but Clint (The apartment owner) got me a leased parking space behind the building which sure helped.
