My daughter's car broke down evening of 5-20-13. She knows a resident with parking space 61. She asked if car could be left until I could tow it. The resident Gwen (LNU) also asked the mgr. not to tow the car. On 05-21-13 9:50 am, I went into the office and observed a Black Female behind the desk on her cellphone. I waited patiently. A detection security contractor came in after me and stood beside me. The Mgr. told her caller to hold on and then invited the contractor in her office BEFORE me. She carried on a conversation with him and when he left, she picked up her phone and started talking again as if I didn't exist. I walked out as my wife who was waiting outside had to be to the Doctor at 10:00. My wife said, I'll go in and see if I can talk to her. She said the Mgr. continued to talk on what sounded like a personal call. My wife said, Excuse me a minute. The Mgr. then got very loud, screaming that she was on the phone and she could just wait. My wife told her she had a Doctor's appointment. The mgr. then told her to write it down and she would get to it when she had time. My wife then told her she had also been rude to me by ignoring me and speaking with the person who was behind me. The manager then screamed at my wife, "he had an appointment". My wife said the Manager was screaming at her like she was a little kid. My wife then wrote a note asking that the car not be towed as we were going to have it towed to a mechanic as soon as we could get the key. I learned that the manager had the car towed anyway at 5:00 p.m. I worked for twenty years in the City of Charleston as a Police Officer, and I have never been treated so rudely. I feel the manager towed the car out of spite, because we interupted her personal phone call. If I treated the public the way this person did me and my wife, I would not have a job for long. Now, instead of just towing the car to my mechanic, I have to pay an additional tow bill and storage. It cost me $125 for the first tow and $65 for the second tow to the mechanic. Living on a retirement income, I don't have extra money to be throwing away, just so this manager can show me who is in charge. I would like an answer on what you are going to do about it. I could have been someone with a dire emergency and her personal call was more important.
