Great location, Fantastic view, Beautiful grounds -- But...
While the apartment building is no longer the very nice, multi-ethnic living community it was in the late 60's and early 70's (I spent part of my childhood here), it is located in a prime area, just 5 minutes from downtown. I have recently returned to this building after extended unemployment (resulting from the economic downturn/recession). Long Grove House has all the markings of a great living community -- I have a wonderful view of the lake and the skyline; I can watch the fireworks from the privacy of my apartment; I can walk to the lake, Soldier Field, the museums and aquarium. Unfortunately, the people that reside in this building don't respect the property despite how much work management puts into beautifying the grounds. My car is repeatedly damaged in the underground parking lot. There is no place for children to play on the premises. And there seems to be a "------" culture in the building. Security is poor -- mostly people who show up for a paycheck but that seems to be the extent of their involvement. Management is unresponsive to complaints and children deface the property -- following the example of their parents who do the same. There's a lot of loud music, foul language and negative behavior. But for my limited financial resources, Long Grove House meets my basic needs and I love the location, apartment size, the rental rate, and my view!Share This Review
