I am amazed to see good reviews on here for Park Lane Apartments in Des Plaines. Angelo never returns our calls unless we call multiple times and leave multiple messages about important things (leaky sinks, broken refrigerators, shoddy windows, broken doors). The heat in the winter isn't turned on until well into November-- you just shiver in your apartment unless you buy a portable heater. I literally feel blasts of cold air coming from the front door and the windows which give you an idea of what "insulation" they provide and their craftsmanship. The parking lot is a disaster every winter. I can promise you that I have fallen in the parking lot twice a year every winter (once this winter- today to be exact). I stay here because the rent is cheap and I can save money (please note though, that the cost of rent ranges-- I know I pay much less than several people that live in these apartments and I am astounded at the prices they are paying-- I would never pay what they are paying to live in this filth). The overall neighborhood is fine, but near the apartment complex it self is shady. I have seen police cars pull into our parking lot several times a year. --NEW-- This is my response, to the person who responded to my post: I cannot help but suspect that the person who responded to the original poster is either an employee of or relative or the owners of Park Lane Apartments. What are the chances that a former tenant would be on this site reading reviews about their former apartment complex on the very day someone posted a poor review and then decide to respond defending it? Let's assume this is just a coincidence. I would still argue that the "wonderful experiences" that person had are not the norm. I know that for a fact because my neighbors and I talk to each other all of the time about our frustrations with getting things fixed. I want to clarify- Angelo is an incredibly NICE on the phone or if you talk to him in person. However, do not hold your breath if you are waiting for something to get done (is my personal experience). I agree that Tom is a difficult person to deal with- he has been rude on every occasion I have dealt with him. Come look at the parking lot right now. The parking lot has a sheet of ice layer on the concrete that is covered with compacted snow. Where the snow has drifted away, is where you see the sheet of ice below. I was literally just looking at the sheet of ice today. I find that to be unacceptable. I am also incredibly embarrassed when family or friends come into the apartment to visit because the first thing they comment on IS the parking lot. Lastly, I want to clarify that I do not have a personal vendetta against Park Lane Apartments or the owners. I just want to share my own personal experiences for any future tenants so they can make a decision for themselves. Choosing a place to live is a huge decision. I value when people put their honest feedback on this website because it helps all of us make the best decision for ourselves.
