We lived in PRC for around 9 years in different apartments.
The cons I see are
1-roaches. management knows about this and are responsive. they send extermination teams, but removing your stuff from kitchen and setting up everything is a big pain. we have to go through this atleast 3 to 4 times to get rid of 90% of the roaches.
2- Increase in rent every year. I started at $700 many years ago and now am at $1300+. They increase it 30-50 dollars per year renewal.
3- schools are absolute worst here. You see a lot of ------- living in this community, but most of them leave before their kids come to kindergarten or 1st grade.
4-some of the streets have flash floods atleast once per year or two. Auto insurance reimburses but it is a pain.
Good
1- heat during winter is auto set. We generally have extreme heat set in the top floors where you have to open the windows a bit to cool off. I think this is good rather than covering up in blankets all night and day in chicago winters.
2- secure
3-free heat, free gas, free water
4- the maintenance engineers are courteous and good at their work. however they have a lot of difficulty understanding english and we do not speak spanish.
5- I just love the large living room space. I toured a lot of apartments around chicago and have not seen so large living rooms any where.
6- there is a gym, pool and a volley ball court. tennis court. both the courts are setup east-west instead of north-south. You can imagine how playing in one of them is during sunset time. I take sunglasses :)
