I lived in 1717 for 4 years. Was the second person to ever move into the building and originally loved the place. However after multiple full staff turn overs the building began to change. Multiple new rules for the amenity spaces limited any possible use until it was too much of a headache to bother. Dog poop was constantly found in the garage which was disgusting. And it took 6 months for the building to deal with the fact that my ceiling was leaking. 6 months of holes in my ceiling and water falling on me But the worst was the garbage. The garbage shoot was constantly backed up, which resulted in piles of garbage bags piled up outside the chute. It was disgusting, it was embarrassing to have guests over since they had to walk by piles of trash to get to my unit. And, of course, it smelled awful. I can't believe I stuck around as long as I did, every other person I knew in that building barely stayed a year and they had the right idea. The only nice thing I can say is the maintenance staff was delightful, tied up by the terrible rules the staff and company that owned the building enforced, but incredibly apologetic and friendly. This place is a slum disguised by nice fixtures

1717 Apartments Manager

Hi Joan, First, I want to sincerely apologize for what you experienced while living at 1717. My name is Robert Green and I am the Business Manager for 1717 Apartments. Please know that it is our goal to provide a positive and enjoyable living experience for every resident. We admittedly, have gone through some transitional periods, but have continued to collaborate with our residents so that the outcome would be pleasant for all parties involved. Those efforts have resulted in a continuous trend of positive experiences for residents and the 1717 community as a whole. Specific to your concerns, we have taken measures to address every one of them over the last year or so. We have not only renovated most of the common areas with the addition of brand new furniture, an over-sized scramble board and a shuffle board table, we also have made the room more accessible to residents any time day or night. We've also made it easier to reserve the areas for private events. With regards to the pets, the office team at 1717 has taken time to make sure that all pet owners not only understand the lease contract but are aware of the designated areas for pets. This year, we will be installing a "pet run" so that our furry little friends will have a space to run freely. Lastly, we were able to address the garbage issue by scheduling more recycling and trash pick-ups. As a result, we've not had any instances, in the past year, of the trash chute being backed up. I appreciate your feedback and would be happy to discuss your concerns with you any time. At your convenience, please feel free to contact me directly at (847) 328-1717. Regards, Robert Green 1717 ' Business Manager
