Resident 1999 - 2003

1/23/2003

We have lived here over three years. Since the time we have moved in, the rent has gone up over a hundred dollars. We used to have satellite television in all the units available, and they removed them. The laundry tacks on about twenty to thirty dollars a week, as the machines are small, inefficent and unrelaible. The crime here is unbelieveable. Since living here we have had our laundry stolen three times, out storage unit vandalized and robbed, and someone hit our car in the parking lot and no one saw it.

These are the small things. The office staff is uncooperative and unavailable. Our lease stipulates that you may have your apartment painted or your carpets cleaned when you sign for your third year. Has not happened. The grounds are unmaintained and often unkempt, and the management does not require the tennant to keep their very visable balconies and patios neat. Often you will see laundry, garbage, and other things hanging from the balconies.

They will not accept packages in the office, which mean if you receive deliveries, you will either have to be home and waiting, or make the time consuming trip to the station to pick it up.

The underground parking is a joke. Our parking space is miles from our actual builing and while it is suppose to be secure, several cars have been vandalized and we have often had to park outside because someone else had a guest take our parking space. However, the propert manager enjoys the very nice enclosed parking garage INSIDE the underground parking garage, built for her conveneince.

The worst part of this experience, I pay over eight hundred dollars a month and work a full time job for the same apartment that someone down the hall enjoys the "perks" of "luxury" living at section 8 prices. This is my last year. I expect my rent to increase and the "luxuries" to decrease again this year.

Also please, please, if you have school age children, reconsider. The bus stop her is extremely unsafe. The children all congregate at the bottom of the drive, which is a winding road that is often not properly cleared in the winter. Instead of having the children wait at the end of an unused service road less than a block away, the children stand at the opening of the main drive where traffic is very heavy at this time of morning. The management here allows parents to park their cars at the end which makes navigating difficult. There have been several near misses in regards to hitting kids with my car.

The only bright spot in all this? The maintence crew here are exceptional. When they receive the work order. They are friendly and I feel very comfortable having them repair something when I am not home.

Save your money. There are nicer apartments in the area. Yes, they may be a bit more expensive than this...but the luxuries are actually there.
