Resident 2005 - 2006

11/15/2006

Pine Ridge Apartments is now called Eastlawn Apartments!

- apartments were nice. our oven/stovetop seems to have something permanently burned in it, even after multiple thorough cleaning by my roommate and i, and it never fails to set off our smoke detector whenever we cook something. whether it be a pack of ramen noodles, spaghetti noodles, making cookies or pizza, that alarm rings loud and clear. we've actually had to resort to ripping it off the ceiling to get it to stop.
- the grounds were kept clean and tidy.
- plenty of parking, but lot isn't very well lit.
- apartment complex is located right next to the train tracks so every couple hours or so a train is passing through...it is VERY loud in the spring/summer when you have your bedroom window open and the trains wake you up. i never had a problem sleeping at night due to the trains when i had my window shut though.
- this apt complex is a popular choice with the college aged, so there are a lot of parties, especially on the weekends. this was a big problem at first, but i think that the cops were called so many times that the landlord finally did something about it because it's no longer a problem.
- our neighbors are noisy. they like to yell and scream at each other and play their music really loud. some of our neighbors have kids and they run unsupervised and uncontrolled during the daylight hours. sometimes it can be difficult to hear yourself think here.
- utilities are pretty low. trash & water are paid. electric is paid by the tenant. i dont think our electric bill ever went over $70.
- no central air, only 1 window unit per apartment that is located in the living room...and some of the units dont even work and the landlord refuses to fix them. strategically placed box fans help move the air down the hall into the bedrooms.
- floor layout is good, but all walls are quite thin.
- no pets allowed, but i know a couple people that have cats in the apts.
- our power goes out randomly, but only for a few seconds.
- the landlord is hardly ever here. when my roommate and i signed the lease, our landlord actually lived in an apartment on site, but within a few months, he became less and less available. this made it very hard to give him the rent check each month, resulting in a few late rent payments.
- after you make your rent payment, don't expect it to be taken from your account in a timely fashion. it usually took 2-3 weeks for the landlord to cash rent checks, which resulted in me overdrafting my account, and thus making my rent check be returned for NSF. i then had to pay in cash, even after 9 months of perfect payment history. and with the landlord never being here, it makes it hard to pay my rent...im not going to give over $200 in cash by just slipping it under the door or leaving it in an envelope!

not the greatest, top of the line apartment complex but if youre looking for a good deal and ok quality, Easlawn is for you.
