Resident 2015 - 2019

5/14/2019

Positives: Well maintained outside with a positive initial image. Lots of parks, good location. Spacious apartments. Decent staff - I think the rants about certain staff are overblown. Negatives: Where do I start... lived here several years. First couple years were fairly quiet and then a bunch of others moved in next door and would play music on their speakers enough to where I could hear the bass nearly every other day after work. Some idiot kept practicing his drums for a couple months there to the point where everyone in the building could hear him. Occasionally there would be some idiot blaring his music and reving up his Harley outside the apartment complex so everyone in the building can hear it. It just goes on and on with these morons. I could not rest after work. The noise was frustrating the crap out of me. My rent increased about $50/month each new lease to the point where I couldn't handle it anymore. Half the time an elevator is broken - imagine 8 floors of apartments and just 1 elevator. Imagine moving out with just 1 elevator like this - spent most of my time waiting for that 1 elevator. Took me 4 hours at Four Lakes moving out and under 1 hour moving in at my new place. Both apartments several floors up. They charge you fees on top of fees. Forget your keys after hours with apartment doors that automatically lock behind you? $75. Extra guest parking pass? $50. Don't have said guess parking pass on move out? $50. Wrong trash disposed of? $50. Charcoal grill or bike on your patio? $50. This is madness. You will be paying luxury prices just to be treated like crap with these fees. Speaking of luxury - they paint over molded areas. You won't realize it on move in, but you will eventually know. The mold is not excessive but you will know it's there. The cabinets look nice until you realize the wood finish on the cabinets are paper, glue-on "finish." You can't subscribe to any cable service except their overpriced Suite Solutions network. Single sink basin and cheap faucet that doesn't move left or right. Bathroom doesn't have a vent fan. Lots of corner cutting for "luxury living." The air is controlled by the building and not your apartment. When it's cold out, they put the heat on. When it's hot, they put he cold air on. The issue is your air switch is either on or off. There is no thermostat or timer or anything. You literally need to get up and turn it on or off yourself - this means with the extra hot air they blast through the vents in the winter, you need to get up and turn the thing off yourself or else your place will have you sweating beads in the winter, no joke. I would need to alternate doing this every hour or two to keep my place from either getting too hot or too cold. Overall: Way overpriced for what they give you. I can understand around $200 cheaper per month, but not current prices where it is at now. I can find an apartment in a high rise, downtown Chicago for these prices.
