Resident 2012 - 2013

8/14/2013

Took this condo due to working in Downtown Chicago at the time and having access to the train was a necessity and we've regretted it ever since. MOVING IN/OUT: There is a $75 to move in and a $75 charge to move out. Apparently this is for the elevator, however, when we moved in, paid the amount and scheduled the move in, we did NOT get an elevator and when this was brought to managements attention, nothing was done and they did not care. Very high move in and out pricing for an "elevator". PEOPLE: This condo is filled with some really nice people and some older, very unfriendly people. (To the point where you say Hi in the hallway and the don't say anything back.) The maintenance guy is very rude unless you're his best friend. Never smiles or says hi to you unless he is gossiping about you in the hallways. Seems like a lot of the people here are older and stuck in the high school phase of judging people and not being friendly. APARTMENT: The utilities are the original utilities and do not work, however, some of the units are BEAUTIFUL and have been updated very nicely. Our landlords had told us if something brakes they will fix it.... needless to say the amount of emails and phone calls over the past year did nothing and we ended up hand washing dishes, driving clothes out to our families house to wash and prayed our pots wouldn't fall off the top of the stove when cooking. NOISE: The noise level is very high to the point where we listened to our neighbor snore for the past 8 months until one day, he moved out. Talk about lack of sleep and TERRIBLE building of this condo building. You can hear toilets flush, people coughing, it's just terrible how bad the construction was on this place. Hotels are built nicer and with more sound proof walls! Definitely a cheap build. PARKING: We've had problems with the parking with the parking lot torn up, nothing like hitting pot holes every day when you're parking and the parking lot floods. There was also a pipe that broke in the middle of us living here and their repair on this situation left the pot holes....so as you can see they did a poor job of just covering up the problem. PLUMBING: It's horrible.... we went through so much drano when we first moved in and see nothing but posts about Plumbing being fixed once a month. There was also pipes that either bursted or leaked on the first floor and the walls were torn out to help stop mold from growing, the loud fans in the hallway to help dry all the water and posts about calling insurance copies about the leak. Needless to say the experience was one that after a while you just dealt with the problems instead of getting aggravated cause there was nothing to do! Looking forward to moving shortly and will never look back! I never had these problems living in Downtown Chicago or in my college townhouses and apartments. If you have other options, I'd look into those before staying here or just make sure the unit you're living in is an updated one!
