I absolutely love this co-op. Not only Cedarwood Cooperative, but the whole concept of a housing cooperative in general. Why more cities don't have these arrangements is beyond me. You get the equity building and freedom to make changes within your unit as with home ownership without the financial burden of being responsible for maintenance and repairs. If your water heater goes out as a home owner, you have to come up with the money. At the co-op, you give maintenance a call and they install a new one for FREE! As a home owner when the property tax bill comes, you may be scrambling to put together that last $2000 to cover the city's recent tax increase. At this co-op, your property taxes are built right into your monthly maintenance fees so you never have to worry about it. Now, with that said, yes, the walls are thin so if you're neighbor is hollering, you will hear them, but my experience over the last 3 years is that the neighbors understand this as well and make noise accordingly. All of our neighbors have been VERY pleasant to live by and extremely courteous of noise levels. Also, parking a second vehicle can be challenging but we use the additional parking lot on Dogwood which is never full and is only a 2 minute walk away from our home. Staff have been easy to work with and the way they care for the property is unmatched in the area! They even plant different plants to bloom at different times of the season so there is always something blooming to look at. Overall, I think the housing co-op is a great fit for families just starting out, bachelors, single moms, the elderly and for those who love to travel and not be bogged down by caring for a house.
