Resident 2011 - 2012

7/5/2012

Overall, I would never stay here again if I moved back to the area. Pros: Safe neighborhood. Do not pay for parking. Maintenance usually fixes things correctly when they finally get around to coming. Did not have ants or mice in the apartment. Nice bbq area in the community area. Cons: No parking lot lines. You make up your own parking spaces, which means that many people park very crookedly. Some days, you will be able to park 10 cars out front and other days it will only fit 8. It all depends on others' parking skills. Have waited for 2 weeks for maintenance to fix things. The faucets were leaky, which increases your water bill each month. I paid at least $30 every month just for water! The refrigerator light would not turn off. The freezer kept freezing something in the back and causing water to leak down the back of the fridge. The neighbors are loud. The walls and floors/ceilings are thin. You will hear what your neighbor watches every evening on TV. You will hear their conversations. The apartment staff will not do anything about it since it is considered apartment noise. I could tell that it was 6 AM every morning because my neighbors would turn on a suction device at 6 every morning. Never figured out what it was. You will hear every time the door to the entry way opens and closes and as people go up and down the stairs. The ceilings squeak with every step that your upstairs neighbors make. You will hear the train every night. You can't escape it. The insulation was not very good. This resulted in heating and electric bills of over $100 for an apartment that is <700 sq. ft.! You will get robbed with your security deposit. I spent over 10 hours scrubbing my apartment spotless. They still claimed that I did not clean it enough and took my security deposit. When you move out, they will not perform the walkthrough with you present, which means that they can say whatever they want regarding how clean it is. I specifically requested to be present, but they said that they don't do that. You are required to pay at least $50 for them to steam clean the carpet when you are gone. This means that you automatically don't get $50 of your deposit back. And it just continues to decrease from there. You pay for all utilities. They tell you that you don't pay for sewage but you have to pay a waste fee each year which is basically the sewage/trash fee. There is no pool. It was filled in to make the bbq area. The leasing office is about 15 minutes away, so you have to go there every time you need something. If someone is there (and not on a 2 hr lunch break), the staff can be incompetent depending on who you deal with. When I first moved in, they were supposed to change the water bill into my name. They did not do this and I kept wondering why I wasn't getting a water bill. When I asked the apt complex twice about the water bill, they said that everything was in order. When I finally figured out what happened, the water company ended up trying to charge me $200 because the address was not properly changed and thought I was trying to get out of paying my bill. When I complained to the apartment complex, they did not do anything and claimed that it was my fault. My mailbox was on the complete opposite end of the apartment complex. There is no outgoing mailbox. If you want to mail a letter, you have to drive to the post office.
