The Winds at Poplar Creek

I only lived here for one year because they wanted to raise my rent too much in order for me to stay. (I don't get that - isn't it better to retain good tenants? Why drive them out by raising the rent so much?) The apartment was extremely clean when I moved in, except for the bathtubs. The bathtubs were dingy, and there was a ring of rust around each drain. The walls and ceilings are extremely thin, so you will hear everything your neighbors do - and they will hear everything you do. In addition to a non-refundable pet fee, there is also a $25 monthly pet rental. Closet/storage space is very limited. I felt this was an average apartment with an extremely high price tag, especially considering that there is no fitness center, clubhouse, business center, etc. I knew that whenImoved in, but I needed to be located in this particular area for my daughter's school, so that was my choice. HOWEVER, as many others have mentioned, the move-out procedure is a total joke and a scam. I have lived at many rental properties in my day, and never before have I been presented with a bill for $190 for painting. In fact, I've never been invoiced for painting at all. It is my experience that the property owners expect to repaint as part of "normal wear & tear." Additinally, if you choose not to clean the apartment and carpeting on your own, you will be charged another $150 - meaning that you will "owe" them more than your total security deposit. The whole experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I have never written a bad review in my life, but I feel compelled to warn people. I would never recommend Avalon at Poplar Creek.
