Resident 2000 - 2002

I moved to Urbana from another state to go to grad school here. I looked at at least five apartments before I found this one. As in any college town, there´s A LOT of poor housing (among those first 5 apartments I saw, each one had a least water stains, bug problems, security issues or shoddy construction), so I was relieved to find this place. Have lived here almost two years. The place is clean, quiet (can only hear neighbors if they´re in the hallway talking), within walking distance of UIUC campus (15-20 min.), on the bus line, and a couple blocks from a lovely park. Rent is reasonable. All maintenance concerns have been promptly addressed (within a day). Plus, there is a washer/dryer in the apt., though its coin operated. Also, the landlord has installed new windows and new carpet in many apartments. Secure access to building, courtyard for barbecues, etc. There is free parking, but spaces are small (ie, please don´t bring your SUV here). The only drawbacks is the noisy ac/heating unit in the living room (hard to hear the stereo or tv at normal level) and the fact that this place is located a block or so from a high school (there can be some thumping bass in the afternoons and occasionally in the mornings). Not an architectural marvel, if that´s important to you. But generally it´s safe, clean, quiet, and spacious, and I would highly recommend this place.
