This place is nicely landscaped... My positive comments end there.
The leasing agent's attitude did not sound trustworthy, to begin with. I understand that their job is to first sell apartments. Some choose to perform that task in an honest and up-front way. Others, choose to skirt issues and make their complex appear perfect in every way. This fellow chose the latter.
I was disappointed the moment I stepped foot in the apartment. It seemed exceptionally dark and brooding; far worse than any other apartment I have viewed recently. Normally, other apartments have been nicely lit with just maybe one lamp and light from a window; not this place. I felt like I was in a dungeon. The carpet was in less than perfect shape. On top of that, there was paint on the carpet by one of the walls. I wasn't sure if this was dried-on, or just paint chips. Either way, it looked unpleasant. There was a very obvious sign of water damage on one wall. The paint was all bulged-out. Oh, the paint... The paint job was the cheapest, most half-@$$ed thing I have seen. It looked like they literally took a bucket of paint, splashed it on the wall, and quickly spread it with a brush. There was an exposed outlet in the hallway closet. The kitchen looked like crap. The appliances were out-dated. The toilet bowl even looked stained, and quite frankly, recently used and un-flushed. Disgusting. And the final touch: dead bugs littering the floor near the patio door; an obvious sign they had not bothered to vacuum the apartment before showing it to potential renters.
Berkshire is less expensive, and seems much better. I would not recommend Briarbrook to anyone.
