Resident 2011

1/23/2011

Let me start off by saying that I could not wait to move out of this place! My lease was up in December of 09 and I literally was marking my calendar. I only stayed for one year. I'm going to just keep it real with you guys so here goes nothing. Do not move there!!! Let me start off by saying that there is a roach problem. I am a pretty clean person and I didn't have it as bad as the others around me, but It doesn't matter. The roaches are not paying rent, therefore, they do not belong here. Another rodent problem they have there are mice! Yes, mice! They don't care how clean you are, they will climb to get their food and leave little Christmas presents. Me personally only have them every now and then, but when I had them, its usually a group of them to deal with. Now let's move on to the rental office/maintenance. When it comes to paying your rent, they are the most friendliest people in the world. We all know why, they are getting your money. When it comes to bringing up concerns, they will write the request down, but one of the following will happen: -"we got a whole new maintenance crew so we are behind on work orders." -"we must have misplace the work order." -"someone will get right out there and get that done for you sir/madam..." I have called the office so many times that they knew my voice. I requested that they come to work on one work order literally 13 times! All the excuses they gave me were the ones I listed above. The only time they came within two days was when mice had babies in my closet! Yes! Very disgusting! Even then, they don't clean up after mice or handle when they give birth. I had to clean that up myself. They just try to plug up the holes with brillo pads and give you sticky traps. The brillo pads slow them down but don't completely stop them and the mice can elude the sticky pads. Now when I first moved into the apartment, it was like a dream come true. It was my first apartment alone and I had little time to find one. Even though the outside area was a little trashy and the hallways stunk a little, I got inside the place and it was completely clean. There were no indications of roaches, mice, etc... After the 2nd night there, I noticed a few roaches, I immediately was disgusted. When you call and tell them you have roaches, they don't take action that quickly. They are used to the calls now and are too cheap to hire professionals to rid them from the living quarters. The apartment area in general is very trashy. Even the sign that said Wood River Gardens is dirty! As far as the people around the apartment, about 65% of the people are to themselves. The rest are very loud, They cuss and get into fights several times a month. The police/ambulance/fire department are always over here. Most of the time the events happen at night. Parking is really a task over there. The lot is not big enough. Now parking at any place will be more of a hassle on the weekend, but during the week towards the end of the day is a mess. People have also been known to vandalize cars as well. In Conclusion, I really feel that this place would not be suitable place to live in. Whether it is the rodent problems, maintenance requests, or the constant police action, no one should have to put up with that on a regular basis. Please think long and hard before making a decision about this place.
