Resident 2010 - 2013

7/26/2013

Adams Village is decent depending on what section you live in. It's very pricey. You don't get much for your money. But in Bloomington, Adams Village is the best for what you get in the price range. It's far enough away from campus that you don't get very many college students. Most of the residents are late 20's and up. You see a lot of recently married couples walking there dogs. Most of my neighbors were very friendly and minded there business and were 9-5 workers that you didn't hear much out of. As far as the apartments themselves....the older units were built in 2003 and are showing there age badly. They weren't built well to begin with but they feel 60 years old not 10. The appliances never worked correctly. My washer and dryer(stackable)never worked and neither did the dishwasher. Several complaints into maintenance and kept being told the same thing...."Welp, they look to be working to us. They are old so you will have to deal with what you have". I'm paying $700/mo and should have the appliances I'm paying for. I had to hand wash my dishes the last year and take my clothes somewhere to wash. The newer units on the other hand(built in 2010) are a complete 180. They have hardwood floors and nicer appliances. If you can afford the extra $150/mo its well worth it. It's more energy efficient plus you get a garage and a bonus room. Adams Village hires a landscaping crew to come mow the lawn and tend to the bushes. The only problem with this is that they NEVER trim the bushes. It looks like a forest in front of the old units. You can't even see out your windows. The one thing I never understood is the pricing. The 2003 units are priced the same as the equivalent 2009/2010 units. The older units should be priced way cheaper. Older unit, older appliances, cheaper contractor that built the units, etc. All and all, I would recommend Adams Village IF you chose the newer units. It's a safe and friendly complex. But, I couldn't recommend the older units unless you can't find anything else for cheaper. Overall I would say Adams Village is around a 3 1/2 out of 5. I'm sure if my years were spent in the nicer units it would probably be a 5 out of 5.
