Stay Away From Carmel Woods
I applied for an apartment at Carmel Woods on 01-Jul-2016 and paid $50 as application fee. On 5-Jul-2016, they called me to let me know that they are denying me the apartment based on the result of background check. I have 700+ credit score hence was surprised to say the least. I got flabbergasted when they informed me that they found a criminal case open in my name based on some "Corelogic SafeRent Report"(https://www.consumeraffairs.com/finance/corelogic-saferent.html).
On calling Corelogic I got to know that the so called criminal case was a speeding ticket that I got two years back. I paid the fine in full and I thought the matter is done and dusted. Well I was wrong. As per Corelogic report, it is summarized in one line as a criminal case without divulging the nature of the case. On telling Corelogic that I paid fine amount so how can they call it "open", Corelogic said that they can raise a dispute (which will take 30 days to process) to remove the criminal case from my report!!! I called Carmel Woods leasing office to reconsider stating the nature of my "open criminal case", however they let me know that they are unable to process my application untill I obtain a clean cheat from a shady third party organization named Corelogic. After some verbal dual, I realized that they are neither in a mood to give me an apartment nor they are returning my application fee ($50).
Who does not have a driving ticket in US? If you have one, even if you paid fine amount in full on time, Corelogic Report still may portray you as a criminal in their report. And Carmel Woods would eat-up your application fee and deny apartment based on the ludicrous Corelogic report.
Bottom line is Stay Away from Carmel Woods.
