So, I've read the other reviews; the most current ones. Personally, I think they have a vendetta against this complex. I've enjoyed my time at Eden East. I started out in a 2 bedroom apartment in 2009. It was fantastic. Newly updated and plenty of space. It was an upstairs unit, so it had a fireplace (though I never used it) and vaulted ceilings; great character. The bedrooms were split by a bathroom, which was excellent when I had a roommate. There were washer/dryer hookups in that apt, as well. A nice feature if you have the machines (I didn't).
When my roommate decided to abruptly leave, the management staff went out of their way to help me. I ended up in a single unit, and I couldn't be happier. There is no fireplace, but it didn't bother me as I did't use it in the other one. There is also no washer/dryer hookups, but there is a laundry room in the main building that is not too far away; 6 washers and 6 dryers, even a Coke machine if you're so inclined. But what got me the most is the space in this apartment. For a one bedroom apartment, it seems huge. Trust me, one friend lived at another complex, and mine put his to shame. I have a large chair, love seat, and couch, entertainment stand/tv, 3 side tables, 3 lamps, and a decent sized dinette set all in the living room/dining room combo. The kitchen is decent sized, with plenty of storage space. It may be a bit outdated, but nothing I couldn't handle. The bedroom is great! Plenty of room for my furniture, and there is a nice sized closet. Mine was and is still jammed packed full! Last but not least is the bathroom. It's far bigger than I expected. It's not cramped at all, and there is a linen closet to help with storage. I put good use to it.
The maintenance and management staff have been fantastic over the past couple of years. Any time I had an issue, either neighbors or needing a repair, things were fixed/settled in a timely manner.
The complex does allow animals, which was nice when I ended a relationship; my little fur ball was able to come with me. I'm not quite for sure what the policy is, but I know that small dogs and cats are allowed. I think the weight restriction is 30lbs.
I have either read, or heard, about the horror stories others have had at different complexes in Evansville. Though I may be a bit biased as this is the one and only apartment I have ever lived at, this place has seemed like a paradise compared to the others. I will be moving out soon due to moving on, but I know that I am going to miss this complex and the people who live and work here. So... you should choose Eden East Apartments as your next residence. You won't regret it! I sure haven't!
