Resident 2012 - 2013

2/6/2013

I thought I would write a review, because honestly, when I was moving here I only found the undated reviews on this site. I'll try my best to cover all the basis, since that's the kind of review I appreciate. I moved here late last year and I'm still currently living here. I live in the 1BR 1BA with my partner, and we're comfortable. The rent with our two pets is 455, but we feel like that is a decent price for the safe location and quiet neighbors (not to mention this this location is RIGHT in the middle of my job and my boyfriends job, so our commute is reasonable). That being said, my elderly next door neighbor constantly complains of the noise her UPSTAIRS neighbors make because of their dog to the point she's living with earphones in all the time. No, I'm not exaggerating. However, personally, I've never had a complaint. The most noise the neighbors make is when they fall, are putting new pictures on the wall and banging on the wall or move furniture. That's not very often. Everyone is assigned a parking spot of their own, if you have more than one vehicle you park is visitor parking. Some people park on the side of the street. If you find someone else in your parking spot, which I only have twice in the 4 months I've been here, you can call Renee, and she will put a note on their car. If it happens again, they can get towed. I never worry about someone being in my parking spot. The specific apartment area I live in Renee warned had a lot of people who didn't pick up after their dogs. She wasn't kidding. I always have to watch where I step when leaving the apartment because people are unable or unwilling to pick up. I don't understand this as I own a dog and I've always picked up after her, but I don't want her stepping on and possibly eating another dogs feces. It would be nice if there was some form of "doggie disposal trash" nearby the areas people keep their animals, but I don't think that will happen. That being said, the area is safe. The area doesn't always have the best lighting, but it's safe. I never feel like I'm going to get hurt. I've had several issues with my apartment and Renee is always VERY accommodating and the maintenance man is ALWAYS friendly, respectful and helpful. He's always been out to our apartment within a few minutes of calling. CONS: There are a few complaints I have about this place. First of all, the water heater for the shower only lasts 10 minutes. This has been especially annoying when I've been drying to deep condition my hair or shave. I've now taken to shaving outside the shower and I don't deep condition anymore. There have been a few instances where I've been showering and the water went cold so I've had to dry off with stuff in my hair and come back an hour later. The only ceiling light is in the kitchen and dining area. There is no ceiling light in the bedroom meaning you have to use lamps. I find this annoying sometimes. The stove is very, very, very small. Very small. I unfortunately found this out whilst trying to make a pizza for a large group of friends. The X LARGE pizza wouldn't fit. Unfortunately, the new cookie baking sheets I bought wouldn't either. So no baking for me. The door doesn't close very well. I've found it's easy to lean onto it and open it. I ALWAYS lock my door because of that. OVERALL: You get what you pay for. This is an older apartment, and you can tell. Some things are falling apart. However, if anything is broken, it's almost always instantly taken care of. If you're a single or older person, this may be a good apartment for you. I feel that with two people, the size of the oven may be too small though. These things for some people (short showers, small ovens and cabinet space) is enough for some people to find somewhere else so I guess it depends on the person. I am personally considering moving because of these things, but so far, I'm content with what I have.
