Arbor Lakes Apartments
Resident · 2011 - 2013
UPDATE: Things have been getting pretty scary here lately. It started about early this summer when a local bank was robbed and the police dogs traced the scent to the building next to mine. This summer I noticed a few older kids peering into cars as I was walking out of my apartment. My boyfriend's sister said her friend (who is a resident, too) had her car window smashed out! The cherry on top of the crime hit me yesterday when my Christmas wreath was stolen off my front door! Arbor Lakes is across the street from Black Bear Creek, where shootings and deaths have been happening recently. I used to feel safe walking out to my car at night but now I feel I must be on guard with all the crime that has been happening in this area. For the rent we pay to live here we could be living somewhere where crime doesn't happen. Save your $750 a month and move to Aboite or Dupont areas as crime is creeping into this area. I will not be renewing my lease this time, which is a shame seeing as I have lived here for three years with no issues till as of lately. ______________ I have lived here for almost three years and overall have had a pleasant experience. The office staff is always friendly and for the most part takes care of requests quickly. The grounds are nice and tidy. The buildings are well taken care of on the outside. The property used to be very dark outside at night, but they have added brighter lights to help see suspicious activity which is nice when you come home late. The pool is gorgeous in the summer with a huge sundeck. The apartments are very nice inside, minus the 1990s kitchen cabinetry, and fairly spacious. Walls are solid and I have rarely heard my neighbors. I live in a "newer" apartment so I have a glasstop stove and updated appliances. Very nice! On the negative side, there is never enough parking anywhere. I have had issues with other tenants' friends' cars being parked where the residents' cars should be parked. One guy's "live-in" girlfriend refused to move her car one night when there was no parking nearby my building. Even after my polite request when I ran into her outside that morning, I still had to park three buildings down at 11 p.m.! In my opinion, if you do not have a parking permit you should be parking across the parking lot and not in front of the buildings. When I first moved here maintenance work orders were handled fast. My washing machine broke and they had a new one installed the same day! Lately, however, maintenance work orders can take a while, depending on your "emergency". My garbage disposal was clogged and it took them 3 days to come out to fix it. I fixed it myself (I can be impatient) and called to cancel the order. The guy showed up two days later to my surprise and acted shocked that the staff didn't inform him of the cancellation. Overall I would recommend Arbor Lakes for anyone single or in a small family (2-3 people)with small dogs or cats who are looking for a quiet community for a fairly affordable price.
