I recently moved here and although its not the best its not the worst either. I read the reviews prior to moving and went in with a "temporary" mindset. I plan to move in a year and buy a house. If you need a short term solution, get into Highland schools,or be close to Chicago its great. It is an apartment --which is a business. So there will be noise. You will have imperfect maintenance. They will tow your car if its raggedy and not working. It is NOT cheap but there are some amenities (close to parks, shopping, pool, weight room-even though its just a weight machine and treadmills- its free). I've lived in cheaper places in Highland and they had issues also -mice, maintenance problems, outdated units, window air conditioners ppl steal your packages, etc). If you look around the average house to rent is $1200-1500/month and most landlords want a full month rent deposit +the first month= $2400-$3000 just to move in, not including other moving exp. Hampton's does have specials on deposits, 1st months rent and app fees. They have activities at the club house for kids. Its not bad. Keep up with your keys. Try to move in the front (its better maintained and policed). Replace your blinds, have your carpet cleaned and do a walk through before you move out. Great for a short term solution long term is not bad but could get expensive.
