Really though, with the exception of one or two of the ladies in the office, Willowbrook Lake is the epitome of lipstick on a pig. Let's break it down. After recently moving out, I've had time to put together a list of everything I experienced. This is in no particular order. Water and plumbing are a nightmare. Hot water sometimes takes 10+ minutes. Prepare for cold showers! The nice white paint you see in the pictures? Its spray paint. It will chip and flake everywhere! The electric/wiring? I had to cross my fingers that my apartment didn't spark and catch fire in the night. Most of the new appliances are junk. My fridge and freezer often would go warm for no reason. Almost every door in my apartment fell off for no reason throughout my lease. Maintenance requests often took 7+ days. I had no working showerhead for nearly a month. Yay cold baths. When I moved in my washer and dryer did not work for 5 days. My car has been broken into twice. My window was shattered by kids throwing rocks. It stayed that way for THREE WEEKS. Okay read that took them 21 days to replace my window. on. But wait! There's more! I see the cops in the complex AT LEAST once a week. If you lose or need additional keys, good luck. My air conditioning broke in the middle of July. You guessed it, I had no AC for a week. If you're lucky enough to live near the playground you can hear kids/teens screaming and fighting all day and witness drug deals at night! Lucky you! The day I signed my lease I witnessed a resident wielding a knife threatening to kill her sister. Sweet. The grounds are not only ugly year-round, but they are dirty. Trash, name it. And finally, the grand their renovation (which has to be going on at least 18 months now) several of their ground floor apartments were often left with the sliding glass door wide open for days and weeks at a time. And wouldn't you know it- I witnessed a homeless man sneaking in and out. Now this all sounds almost too much to be true, I agree. But if even 25% of it is true, would you really pay A THOUSAND dollars a month to live here? Sadly, it's all true. Willowbrook Lakes has to be the worst value in all of Indianapolis. Stay Away.
