Have NEVER lived in a place like this...TERRIBLE. We moved into the Flats during a management change. New management is just as awful as what we were told the old management property was. We didn't know that our AC unit was broken (but apparently THEY knew that there were tons that needed repaired, didn't bother to tell us). We moved here in December, so didn't find out that we had no air conditioning until it was too hot. Usually this wouldn't be an issue, but I was pregnant. At 36 weeks, I was overheating and miserable and on bed rest. I called and called and called trying to get someone out to fix our AC unit. It didn't get fixed until our newborn was almost 2 months old. We had to stay at a relative's house because it was so hot that our son couldn't keep anything down. He'd nurse and throw everything back up. Their solution: give them a mobile AC unit...which leaked all over the carpet because it never shut off...because it was almost 90 in the apartment. Our carpet was so saturated that if you stepped on it, water literally seeped out. Our electric bills were outrageous, because for the longest time, we didn't know that we had no AC. They'd come out and "fix" it, only to have to come out again and again. Part of the issue was that the corporate office wouldn't give the okay to spend money on the replacement parts for anything. We were told by 2 different managers and the woman who does the refunds and adjustments on the accounts, that they had to speak with corporate to get any kind of reimbursement...that was at the beginning of this whole fiasco. There's been no kind of response in regards to this. On top of all of these issues, we hear gun shots all the time, cars peeling out and stereo systems blaring at all hours. We don't feel safe here with children, and are buying a house to get out of this place. Unfortunately, the office is trying to say that we'll have to pay 4 months worth of rent to buy out of our contract. We're "on the hook" for 60 days rent from the time we tell them that we're moving, plus two months to buy out of contract. They haven't even acknowledged their shortcomings and never will. I honestly hope that someone from corporate reads this, as their local employees have their hands tied when trying to do ANYTHING to help their residents out when things go wrong. Several of the office staff have informed me that they can't do anything but email the corporate office (they don't ever answer the phones there apparently), so they've sent multiple emails regarding our issues. WE ARE COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED and no one seems to be able to even talk to us regarding our issues. If corporate does happen to see this and wish to address these issues with me (and I hope that they do) they're more than welcome to get my contact information from The Flats office staff. Otherwise, they get the worst review I can give. For your safety, health, and state of mind - LOOK ELSEWHERE TO LIVE even if it's more expensive.
